Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Demo Released
Codemasters has just released a playable demo of their open-world military combat shooter. The demo includes the early tutorial missions from the full game and is available in five languages. If you have been holding off buying the game to see how it turns out, this is a great chance to get your boots muddy for free!
Operation Flashpoint, like many MP games, can be awesome when played with friends and other like minded gamers. That is why Tactical Gamer has an active Operation Flashpoint - Dragon Rising Forum , so be sure to check it out for all the latest news, tips, map packs, and even an x-fire group so you can find other players.
You can grab the demo lots of places, including STEAM and the Big Download PC Gaming website, both of which have very fast downloads.

I downloaded this yesterday on STEAM, but last night when I tried to play it, it kept saying that it was "unavailable".... maybe tonight will be different.

Well this is great news for me. I have not been on a TG server in months. I am looking for that next great MP game to buy but don't have any clear winners (Though LpBronco keeps trying to convince me that OPF DR is the ONE!) Good stuff hopefully and glad they released a demo

I'll disagree about OPF
R being a winner, in my opinion it was a letdown on the dedicated server aspect.

I'm also disappointed that we didn't get dedicated servers but its still a very enjoyable game and fits the criteria to be a quality team experience. Try signing up for the next TG Tactical Event and see how good the game can be. (I just passed 100+ hours using X-Fire tracking so I didn't try it for a day or two in forming my judgments.)

I'm wondering about game play. I just viewed the Muti-Player trailer (1) and I'm still left wondering ... is this BF2 on steroids? anything like AA3?
What I'm looking for is something that supports tight squad work while providing a strategic level.

Re: Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Demo Released
I think of it more like GRAW on roids. Similar in appearance to ArmA but models and play is less BF2, hard o pigeon hole, maybe more CSS. In all its a blend but the squad and command structure allows for as much team work as the players in any given match will incorporate. Its not a join, get your kill freak on and leave. It does take some time to learn and there are things I'm just now starting to pick up. Try the demo, look for us in TS and form your own opinions. I know they'll be favorable but there are elements that could be better and a second patch is in QA and should address some of these.

Downloaded, played and was horrified.
Guess the game just isn't for everyone. Least I waited for the demo and didn't spend any money on it

I really liked this game. Its not a run-and-gun experience at all. The multiplayer co-op is alot of fun with good players and the SP missions are well done.

Re: Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Demo Released
This game is great as long as your team sticks together & stays in communication. It has come down in price as the kid at the store said, "They went way overboard with reality". (Exactly what I like to hear!)
Its much more user friendly than Arma. I honestly would have gone with Arma2 if my machine would handle it but now I'm glad I have this one. It looks and plays smoother. The user interface is intuitive even for a pretzel fingered flailer like me. The user generated content is getting very good & easy to produce.
Next week the 2nd patch comes out & I bet the games over the next month are really gonna go from great to stellar.
