Ghost Recon - Back to the Hood
Ghost Recon - Back to the Hood Eastern Europe, 2008 The world teeters on the brink of war. Radical ultranationalists have seized power in Moscow - their goal, the reestablishment of the old Soviet empire. Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan - one by one the nearby independent republics slip back into the Russian orbit. Russian tanks sit in the Caucasus Mountains and the Baltic forests, poised to strike to the south and east. The world holds its breath, and waits. For one small group of elite soldiers, the war has already begun: TG Special Forces Group 5, First Battalion, D Company. Deployed on peacekeeping duty to the Republic of Georgia in the Caucasus, this handful of elite warriors represents the very tip of the spear - the first line of defense. Equipped with the latest battlefield technology, and trained in the latest techniques of covert warfare, they strike - swiftly, silently, and invisibly. They call themselves "TG" Ghost Recon used to be one of the staple games at Tactical Gamer. This is the game that forced me to go looking for tactical players and how I ended up at TG (though thanks to GR.net for pointing me this way). As with all good things, they must eventually come to an end and after 18 months of solid play, almost every night in fact, GR left my heart. It’s now been about a year since I, and many of my fellow gamers have played, so I thought it might be a good idea to go back to basics. Having played a heap of custom missions/mods by various people, including the GR team that developed the TG mods, I realized that I hadn’t played the original missions for a long, long time. Even when GR was at its height, I don’t recall playing them that much because we had so many more missions to choose from. So this weekend, Saturday 4th November at 21:00hrs (GMT) - 1600hrs (EST), we’ll be getting together once again, to save the world from peril – the virtual 3D gaming world that is . We’ll be playing out the original missions, in order. To spice things up a bit, we’re introducing a scoring system based on survivors. The less you get hit, the more chance you have of coming out top. For more info on the game rules, please see this thread; http://www.tacticalgamer.com/ghost-recon-general-discussion/18692-ghost-recon-again.html We did have a full nine players but we’ve lost one. FNG had to go on a highly important special operations mission to make sure two small children don’t get up to any mischief So Karma has stepped up to take on the challenge - a true veteran of the game, Karma has many years experience (just can't shoot for... lolOur final player list is... Jex Riyker Phyllis Luna Fanatik Dudeman Mirfee Squid Karma For those of you who didn’t make it, or would like to get involved, we will be hosting more of these events. You are more than welcome to observe, and perhaps some of us will sit out a round to let you participate. Please watch the Ghost Recon forum for more details on future events. Thanks, Jex. |
