XFire- Know where your TG friends are!
I've recently come across a really neat tool called Xfire. Check this out, from the Xfire website:
"Xfire is a free gaming tool that automatically keeps track of when and where gamers are playing PC games online and lets their friends join them easily. It doesn't matter which online game your friends are playing, which server browser they are using, or which gaming service they're playing on; Xfire is intelligent enough to recognize where your friends are at any time."
You can join your friends in game directly through Xfire for many supported games. You can instant message, keep track of player stats, and download files with your friends. Best of all, it's free. You can download Xfire from their website.
Once you've signed up, post your Xfire handle to the TG forums, and we will keep a master list for everyone to use.

Master list. Good idea. A nice complement to that master list would be a profile attribute people could populate similar to today's "SteamID" entry.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Is there any difference between this and a server browser like the All-Seeing-Eye which also has a buddy list?

Looks like a 21 day free trial and register after that. I did have ASE a couple years ago and I think I paid for it. Maybe I'm just dim though....don't answer that.

XFire is free, and the difference between it and the All Seeing Eye is that it focuses on your friends and where they are as opposed to game servers in general. You don't need to add a game when you want stats on it, either. It's player-focused.

How is Xfire running for you guys? Last time I tried it, it was a piece of junk that conflicted with most games. Have all the bugs been worked out? Does it actually track people now?

Yeah, I've had a great time with it. It's been very easy to use, and I especially like that I can message others to start up a game regardless of if I'm on ts or not. You might want to give it another try.

I have been using this program since it's release. IMO it is the best program of its kind. It uses almost nill bandwidth, and is great tool for locating friends as well as in-game chatting with people not in your game. Give it a week, and feel free to add me. Usarion
