TG event will start at some time, say 8PM EST, the event might actually start anywhere near that time.
SUCKER!
To avoid looking like a fool and wasting precious time, you must account for the
TG effect.
The
TG effect adds a time zone to yours. For example, if you live in the Central time zone you might read a post that says something will happen at 8PM EST and think to yourself "gee, I live in the Central time zone, so I'll subtrack an hour from 8, making the time I should show up 7. Yes that's it, I'll make sure to show up at 7 PM CST every Monday just like the post says."
Ah but that's where you're showing your naiveté. You MUST account for the
TG effect, which effectively makes your time zone the Eastern Time zone, the Eastern Time zone the Atlantic time zone, etc. People in Britain use some funky european time zone and pretend to be Belgian. Anyway, the bottom line is that when you see 8PM EST that REALLY means 8PM CENTRAL time because of the
TG effect.
There's also the Q effect, which negates the
TG effect, but only for Q. So when it says 8 EST, Q will show up at 8 EST, but only Q and maybe one pubbie.
