I just realized that many of the newer members of this community may be confused and think that when Luna or anyone else says a TG event will start at some time, say 8PM EST, the event might actually start anywhere near that time.

SUCKER!

To avoid looking like a fool and wasting precious time, you must account for the TG effect.

The TG effect adds a time zone to yours. For example, if you live in the Central time zone you might read a post that says something will happen at 8PM EST and think to yourself "gee, I live in the Central time zone, so I'll subtrack an hour from 8, making the time I should show up 7. Yes that's it, I'll make sure to show up at 7 PM CST every Monday just like the post says."

Ah but that's where you're showing your naiveté. You MUST account for the TG effect, which effectively makes your time zone the Eastern Time zone, the Eastern Time zone the Atlantic time zone, etc. People in Britain use some funky european time zone and pretend to be Belgian. Anyway, the bottom line is that when you see 8PM EST that REALLY means 8PM CENTRAL time because of the TG effect.

There's also the Q effect, which negates the TG effect, but only for Q. So when it says 8 EST, Q will show up at 8 EST, but only Q and maybe one pubbie.

He's right. The event starts roughly around 8pm. This means that people will show anywhere between 8 EST and 10 EST depending on where they live and the current status of their screaming children.

I for one cannot make it until 830 at the earliest, but always no later than 9.

How long do these events usually run? I'm in class until 9:00 EST, so should I bend all concepts of space-time to get home, or can I actually take my time getting home safely because you lot will be on until 12AM?

FYI, I pimped TG on USENET a while back... No responses, but if any of you GR players wanted to kinda update it and bump it back to the top every now and then, it might help attract some new players that are looking for the same type of gameplay.
