    Battlefield 2 Servers Online!

Our latest Battlefield 2 server passed the provisioning stage last night and is now officially on-line! We have shuffled the server configurations around a little bit and re-named them slightly so they will be easier to see in the in-game browser.

With all of the incoming players we felt it would be beneficial to add a second public server to handle the load. The new server is also considerably more powerful and should perform well under pressure. Once we determine that it is stable, we are going to give the BattleRecorder a shot and see how well that works in conjunction with the 64 player server.

Below is a list of all of our Battlefield 2 servers with IP addresses. See you on the Battlefield!

    Server IP Address: 70.86.19.218
    Server Name: TacticalGamer.com - BF2 #1
    Player Slots / Map: 64/64

    Server IP Address: 67.19.26.150
    Server Name: TacticalGamer.com - BF2 #2
    Player Slots / Map: 48/32

    Server IP Address: 70.84.146.202
    Server Name: TacticalGamer.com - BF2 Private
    Player Slots / Map: 48/32

Why not public-password (post password in forums) one of those public servers? That way at least we'd have a semi-public server in case the really public one goes to hell like it did last night.

We're going to be discussing this soon. But I think it was part of our original plan. To provide public, semi-private and private server platforms.

May I inquire as to the server's specs? I hope its running atleast an Opteron 2.0 Ghz/Xeon 2.8 Ghz and 1.5Gb or more ram.

I say this because I had a Xeon P3 machine i tried to host a 48 player server on and it was way way too slow.

Also, a password in the public forums for one of the servers would be a good idea. Atleast then people would have to take 5 minutes out of their day to get the password from our forums.

The server is a dual Xeon 2.8 w/ 2GB memory.

A single P4 3.0 can run BF2 w/ 64 players with no problems. The real problem is the bandwidth required to run a 64 player server rather than the actual CPU.

That might have been why, I only have a 1.5mb down and 384 kb up load.

Just out of curiosity then, what kind of bandwidth speeds do the TG servers get?

I can't log in. It tells me I have an older version than the server, but I can't find an update. Any help? wwstouring@gmail.com. Thanks.

Aggregate bandwidth is over 15GB/sec at the data center. We have 100MB/sec connections to the core switch.

Any chance you guys will be rolling back one of the servers after the recent mess up with the EA patch? I really want to play on your servers but the 1.01 patch screwed up my BF2 (and tons of other people's installs from reading some of the online forums).

EA's post about it can be found at:

At this time we're sticking with the 1.01 patch.

In fact, 1.01 is even a litle more stable for us. At least we know WHY the server instance crashes, and it does it less often than before.
