Announcing: The Tactical Gamer Game Club

Most of us are avid gamers, which means we have a stack of games that we love, but just don't get to that often.

Maybe the games are old, maybe the servers are dark, maybe it's just easier to reach for the BF2 box next to the computer instead of hunting down your Ghost Recon discs.

We all have those reasons.

Which is where the Tactical Gamer Game Club comes in.

Each Sunday night, from 9-11PM EDT, the Club will pick a title we host, and breathe some life into the game.

The games the Club will play will rotate each week, starting with the following rotation:

Week 1: Operation Flashpoint
Week 2: America's Army
Week 3: Ghost Recon No Easy Day
Week 4: Day of Defeat: Source

Each of these titles has something to offer the Tactical Gamer Community, and each cost less than $20, so there shouldn't be too much grumbling about paying too much for a game you will play once per month.

The first meeting of the Club will be January 15, 2006, which gives everyone time to get the games, and sync up with our servers.

If you are looking for a change of pace from the games you usually play, or would love a chance to join fellow TGers in an old favorite, join the Club!

Great Job... you the man...

I'll be there... just wanted to verify what type of mods for certain games would be played....

AA is obvious, (and free, so no excuses on that one, lol)

GR is it just the "no easy day" mod or any others required to be activated.

OFP, that will be the hardest... is it a co-op mission, what mission what mods, or is it force on force?

HL DoD mod, thats the one I bought from steam for 20 bucks but haven't played yet... right?

Re: Announcing: The Tactical Gamer Game Club

Any Tribes 2 fans? My team is involved in hosting a T2 pickup on the 15th, if anyone's interested. We try to hold these regularly, as my team started in T2 and later branched out into other games, but we still have a special place for that first love.

I keep T2 servers running all the time on MA's server at virtually zero cost. If Apophis doesn't have a setup to run under the TG label, I can supply a set of files including Linux boot scripts. (Each server instance runs as a separate user.)

That's correct. The server is currently running NED only, although you may need to install the GR/Frostbite mods because I saw a bug once that said you did not have the same mods as the server. I saw that only once though.

NED requires the Gold edition, that is, Ghost Recon and the 2 expansions.
Look, if you don't have that, are you in the right place?

We have a CTI and Co-op servers. I'm thinking for round 1, we go co-op, to get everyone reacclimated. After that, we will see.

There is a link to OFP watch in the forums: use that to sync with the server.

That's right. Think of it as CS:S, only fixed.

I still have my GR discs but I seem to remember there were some expansions that I never bought. I don't need them do I?

Sounds great to me - any word on what OFP game mode we'll be playing?
Please oh please let it be CTI!

Americas Army

Hi All,

just signed up yesterday. I would love to see some quality real tactical Americas Army sessions. I am sick and tired of playing on normal servers. I want to see a group of players actually working as a team. So as soon as somebody gives me a time to be on the TG server I shall be there waiting

regards

and hope to play with you all soon

Yes, but they come with the gold edition of GR. That might be the only way to get them now. It'll cost you $10-$20 for the gold edition...

To be safe follow the mod installation directions on this thread:
http://www.tacticalgamer.com/ghost-r...cal-gamer.html

And then add No Easy Day to the install.

I gotta install all that other stuff BEFORE doing the 1.4 patch? Ahh, damn...that means I'll have to uninstall everything and do a re-install

please tell me I don't have to do this!

Well, according to Badger, that's a yes. If you have the Gold or GOTY edition, then the patch is already there, I believe.

No Easy Day does not require the other mods, but I had an issue connecting to the server once, getting a "you do not have all the mods required by the server" error message. I don't know if the other mods have been pulled or not. Better install and be safe.
