Announcing the TacticalGamer Battlefield 2 Map Contest

The entire TacticalGamer Community is pleased to announce their first ever Battlefield 2 Map Contest. For this contest, we are challenging map makers from around the world to show us what they can do, and, in return, we will award the creator of the best map a grand prize of $250 USD!

Who are we?
We are tactical gamers. We are a community of mature gamers. We play a wide variety of games, from Battlefield 2 to World of Warcraft, and everything in-between. Here's a few links that should give you a better idea of who we are and how we play:

Feel free to stop by any of our servers and check us out. Potential map makers are especially encouraged to stop by to gain insipiration for their maps.

Prizes:

• Grand Prize Winner: $250 USD
• Second Place: $100 Amazon.com Gift Certificate
• Third Place: $50 Amazon.com Gift Certificate

In order to award the prizes, we will need at least 5 map submissions.

What will we do with the maps?
We're looking for several custom maps to add to our main Battlefield 2 server. If there are enough submissions of sufficient quality, our intent is to use 5 or 6 of the best submissions and create a TacticalGamer Map Pack. Given that fact, TacticalGamer will become the owner of all maps that are included in the map pack. We may need to modify certain aspects of the map (for instance, we won't move a mountain, but we may change vehicle spawns) to make them better fit our style of play. Don't worry, all authors will be given credit for their work!

Here are some things to keep in mind when creating your map:

• We want something unique, not a rehash of what we already have
• We want a balanced map where we can't predict the winner before the round starts
• We don't want to play wack-a-mole
• We don't want team deathmatch maps
• We have great pilots in our community so we don't want the airpower to be overpowering, but at the same time we want to keep our pilots happys. (Note: Aircraft not required. Nor is armor, for that matter.)
• We want to be able to create strategies and tactics. Give us cover and places to go. Allow us to fight away from the flags.
• Create 16, 32, and 64 player versions of the map. We adjust map sizes on the server based on population.
• We all want to play! Not everyone has a top video card, so make sure that our friends that play on low settings can play the map too! Not everyone has the Special Forces expansion or the booster packs, so the maps should work in stock BF2.
• We wants maps that fit our style of play. This is hard to put in to words, so map makers may want to play a few rounds with us to get an idea of what we're looking for.

Where do you send the maps?
Contact TacticalGamer's BF2 Game Officer, Tempus (you need to register on our forums to access that page), to make arrangements for submitting your map. We do request that the map not be placed on a publically accessible website until after the map pack has been released.

Deadlines:
The deadline for entries is June 4th with the prize winners announced on July 5th. During that time, the Battlefield 2 Community Administrators will decide which maps to include in a map pack. We will release the map pack on June 21st to coincide with the first anniversary of Battlefield 2's release. We will use input from our Community to decide the prize winners.

3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.
