Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo available
That's right! The Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter demo is now available for supporting members.
Supporting members can download the GRAW demo by clicking here The US President has joined the Canadian Prime Minister and the Mexican President in the metropolis to sign the NAJSA (North American Joint Security Agreement) a policy to control illegal immigration and the movement of drugs and terrorists in the hemisphere. During the public signing of the document the three leaders are attacked by Mexican soldiers. The Ghosts are ordered to meet up with Secret Service agents protecting the U.S. President and ensure his safety until he is extracted. While the U.S. president is on route to the Airport, the Ghosts secure the Mexican president. Thanks to the Ghosts' actions, the Mexican President will "Green light" U.S. intervention on Mexican soil in order to bring back Democracy. Unfortunately, the U.S. president never reached the Airport and is now in enemy hands… Enjoy!

God this is incredible, thanks so much for the links!
Anyone else find it funny that this NAJSA is about stopping drugs and is accordingly a "Joint Security" agreement? ![]() -Zephyr

Re: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo available
Well I played for 30 minutes till my first death... as you can imagine nice graphics and sounds...
I played with the default game play settings at first, but you can turn off those enemy icons...sweet... It's more open then Lockdown, but I did seem like I was forced down a certain way, sure there were buildings I could use to flank, but still a nice big open world is what i want...maybe it's there, I don't know yet... I was kickin butt with my weapon, go to a corner, lean left or right, right mouse to bring up the scope and bang dead guys everywhere... my teammates stayed behind me, thanks for the security boys, lol... I would order them to a corner, (on screen with the middle mouse button, not using the tactical map yet, tab key).. they would move forward but not where I wanted them too... they seemed to keep a rather large formation, even when I was under fire, they didn't move to help on there own...but again, maybe they can I just don't know how yet...alot of extra commands in this game like drones, maps etc etc.. The interface seems nice for a first impression, small sat com message in top right, compass at the bottom, and your usual 4 team overlay in top left... but not as cluttered as the screenshots made them out to be. So far, with very little time and even less proper reading of the read mes and controls... first impressions are alright, haven't got into any major firefights yet, so don't know how well the tactics are... but did see the enemy not just go prone like in other games but jump to a prone position, and try to move on me. MULTIPLAYER? did I miss it? I only see LAN MP in my settings... wheres my internet co-op? Understand this is a very limited 1st impressions, I probably shouldn't even be posting it yet, but you asked and I was compelled to answer...It can still be great, or can still suck... let me go find out now... see ya, lol. |

Re: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo available
Sorry to burst your bubble, but PhysX card pricing is all but gauranteed to be MUCH closer to $300 than $100.
Oh, and I was able to try out the demo on my home machine without a card as well as at school on a machine with a PhysX card. Honestly, I didn't see a *huge* difference, but I would chalk this up to simply not wanting to spend too much development time on features that not terribly many users would be able to appreciate. (It'll be at least a year before I start expecting "serious" physics out of any PhysX enabled software other than demo's launched or related to the chipset's developers.) For those still itching to run out and grab a card anyway, I will say that there was a distinct advantage in having one...it took a *lot* of load off the CPU. Whether the $300 for a physX card is more useful than spending that cash for a better CPU or GPU for *this* game is debatable. However, as long as Ageia and their aquired Novadex SDK isn't a complete flop I would certainly be willing to wager that the physics card will turn out as the better purchase.

Re: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo available
You can check out the difference here:
http://physx.ageia.com/footage.html Shows you a small clip with and without, is it worth the difference for another 300 dollar piece of hardware? I'd say no until more games are supported, alot more... kinda reminds me of the old Voodoo Monster 3D card that daisy chained off of your regular card, (man I loved that card.) Lucky for me, My editor in chief over at SimHQ is in talks with the developers to get 2 cards free, ![]() One for the hardware editor, and one for me to report on the game side of the card... I can only hope, but if not oh well. $600 state of the art video card + $300 for a PhysX card = pretty pictures, but no better game play... Now if they made a card to improve enemy and friendly AI by 100's of percent, then I'd be there. ![]() JMO |
