Re: Tactical Gamer fully supporting Booster Packs

man aussies get cranky when they spend 168 dollars a night and dont get any sugar......maybe you should try a different neighborhood....save you some money. Good thing munchkin isnt old enough to know what we are talking about....

back on topic. I think this had to be done to bring in more players and bring back some vets to the game. Im sure it wasnt a easy decision or a small thing to consider.

I'm glad the decision was made. While I often argued on the side of those without the booster (I own EF and will have AF) I was doing so more out of a sense of "Fairness". But given the staleness of vanilla as we approach the 1yr mark and declining population in vanilla, this is becoming an irrelevant point. I would love to see these maps in TacMod, plus the TacMod map packs coming up

I REALLY apprecaite that this was a difficult decision that the admins thought long and hard about before making. Thank you to all the admin staff:

I constantly hear people harping on about how EA should deliver more maps for free and 'fix the game' and so on. I reckon I have put in a good 400 hours of game time with BF2 with a combined spend of:

US$50 for BF2
US$28 for BF2 SF
US$10 for BF2 EF
US$80 for a year's Supporting Membership at Tactical Gamer.

Not to mention the countless admin hours I put in to help support the TG BF2 community. When someone begrudges spending $10 here or there, it just gets under my skin. Hell, I even donate good sums of money to open-source software I use. If you don't like vanilla BF2 and choose not to support it, then there is no problem with that, but to claim it's a rip-off or that you have in some way been let down by EA or DICE is insane in my opinion.

So, for $168, I have 400 odd hours of quality gaming under my belt. To put it into perspective, I easily spend that on a decent night out ... sometimes I may not even get laid!

Anyway, how people spend their money is entirely up to them, but I just get tired of all the negativity that seems to radiate from the EA-bashers.

This isn't directed at you asch. It's just a general observation.

Another way to look at it is this way: I'm not paying to support EA. I along with most other people find them incompetent (red tag bug?), but I enjoy the game and I enjoy playing with people here. Now I'll get to do that on 6 more maps. I view it as paying a few bucks to play the game I like with likeminded players

My thanks!

Thank you TG for showing us all the support we need to continue to keep BF2 and the boosters alive! It's very much appriciated and will not go unforgotten later down the road. I didn't personally make very many comments but I secretly wanted TG to support the boosters. I'm glad to see this desicion has been made and my sincer thanks go to all those that were involved with the process.

Thanks again!

That's all fine and good for BF2. But EA produces/distributes many games - particularly for consoles. Not all of them are quality. Like Asch said just because you don't have a problem giving them your money doesnt mean everyone else doesnt. EA is the money whore of the gaming industry. And with most whores the customer service isn always good. heh.

I'm all for getting players back to the game of BF2 - i play as much as or more than anyone else here, but i dont think these forced booster packs on server 1 full time are going to do it. It's no different than SF, map packs or Tac-Mod full time on Server 1. The server change doesn't help either in the random people department. Everyone wants these 64 player battles in one breath in the second breath there like server population will be low for a while...

I like TG - i just don't like this decision. Go ahead and bash me because of it - i know some of you dont like to hear the opposite opinion and some admins like to call a forum disagreement "immature"...

It may split the community but i'm all for players not interested in the booster packs to begin seeding Server 2 and the Tac-Mod on nights other than Tac-Mod night and when Booster maps come up and you get booted.

The Tac-Mod offers everything everyone is always screaming about - it's free, new maps (total BF2 maps - which failed on server 1) plus SF weapons on vanilla maps - which we havent even used yet much and is damn cool.

plus 1.1 promises even more tweaks and some neat graphical upgrades. Duke and Asch do not disappoint.

I hope we all behave mature and do the right thing now. There are two options. Get those booster packs and have a good time on the server or if you are not going to get them, dont complain and ruin the fun for others. For an active BF2 community, BF2 vanilla is almost dead so this change is absolutely necessary.

Do it (join or stay out) not for greedy EA, not for DICE but for a strong and united TG community !

Well put John CANavar!!

That won't happen, and if it does it will be dealt with swiftly. We as admins went round and round and round. Not all agreed to put the booster packs on. We had very civil discussions looking at it from both sides before a final decision was made. It was nothing personal against those in favor or against the boosters, it was done because we thought that overall it's what would be best for BF2 at TG in the long run.

Excellent. I can't wait to see some what some of the EF maps play like with a full TG server.

Re: Tactical Gamer fully supporting Booster Packs

Love it!

But now you are going to force me to fix my BF2 install. It dumps the whole system when EF loads.. Grrrrr...

Re: Tactical Gamer fully supporting Booster Packs

Well if it wasn't for this decision my bf2 days were getting numbered. So I'm glad it was made. I can still count on my fingers how many times I've gotten to play EF, So with 6 new maps in rotation, I'm pretty excited and should hold me over for few or more months.

Re: Tactical Gamer fully supporting Booster Packs

I definitely feel that this is the best direction we can take with BF2 at this time. Interest in the game is fading and we might as well have fun while it lasts.
