Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
As many of you may already know, Ghost Recon was the game that redefined Tactical Gamer back in 2001. Starting now, we are looking forward to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter to continue where we left off with the original Ghost Recon.
When Advanced Warfighter was released earlier this year, many of us were excited about the game. It held a lot of promise for Tactical Gamer and had the potential to become one of our flagship games. That promise is about to be fulfilled.
Tactical Gamer is pleased to announce the launch of our Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter dedicated server. Effective today, we are now hosting an Advanced Warfighter server running the OGR (Original Ghost Recon) game mode with the maximum 12 player capacity. The OGR game type is primarily set for the launch, but we will most certainly be mixing things up a bit in the coming weeks. The server is listed in the GRAW in-game browser as “TacticalGamer.com – GRAW” and currently requires anyone connecting to be part of the GRAW MP3 Beta program. (We’re sorry, but the dedicated server is part of this release, so if you’re not in the beta, you will need to wait until the official MP3 release to participate.)
Tactical Gamer has high expectations for not only the game itself, but our players as well. You are strongly encouraged to take a look through our Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter forums, specifically the SOP forum, to get an idea of how we approach this game. In keeping with our high expectations, we have named none-other than Strag as our new Ghost Recon game officer. Please join me in welcoming Strag into this new position and providing as much support as possible for this new launch.
Stay tuned for more information and some exciting announcements in the near future!

Congrats, Strag! Great choice, Apo.
To the rest of you, TG doesn't screw around with GR, so get in on it if you can. Top-notch stuff. I expect a large and vibrant following here for this game by the time I next upgrade my system (you've got a while).Steam Community? Thanks, guys! I'm certainly looking forward to GRAW at TG.

Re: Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Congrats, Strag.

For those of us who didn't play the original GR but purchased GRAW, what can we expect from this 12 player multi-player mode? 2 squads of 6 working in Co-op? I honestly have no idea what kind of game structure to expect.-F- Beatnik

Finally!! congrats Strag!
EDIT- Just set up my macro keys on my G15 to say "CC".The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

It's all about the new formations possible
Think Mighty ducks. (Hint: Flying V!)
Kidding! I'm sort of curious how this works too. Call me stupid but what maps do the 12 players get to play on? Normal GRAW maps? Boy they better have added a lot of baddies if thats the case.

Re: Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
I'm not yet sure what the maps will be like, but it looks like GRAW will have a similar fireteam setup like GR does, only with 12 players instead of nine.
In GR, a squad can have a maximum of nine people. Within the squad, there are three fireteams of three members each (Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie). It really depends on the leader, the mission, and the number of players as to how the overall squad is set up. Some leaders like to have a sniper element in Charlie, for example, while Alpha is a supressed team and Bravo is the leader's team. Or, if the objective is to destroy a vehicle or a bridge, for example, Alpha and Bravo teams may have Demo kits while Charlie has a machinegun, sniper, and the leader.
I'm not sure exactly how GRAW will work, but it DOES look like there are fireteams available like GR has. So, hopefully things will carry forward from GR to GRAW.

Re: Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
In the MP3 pack there only seems to be three "missions" right now. You need to look at maps and missions a little differently in comparison to games like BFx. GRAW is quite similar to OFP in the way it deals with maps. Maps are quite huge, but the missions you play are isolated to different areas of the map. The terrain changes based on where on the map you are, so it does feel like a new "map".
I used to do a bit of GR mission creation back in the days of the original GR. I'm going to take a look at the editor over the next few days and see what it takes to create more OGR co-op missions. There are other co-op modes as well that offer different missions that we can cycle through.
Now that the dedicated server is being delivered, we should be seeing a nice stream of new missions coming out for the various game types.

Re: Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Exciting! Congrats Strag, I know GRAW will do well with you at the helm. Just wish I could see this new stuff rolled out. Great to hear that GRAW is getting more coop compatibility built in.

Re: Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Excellent. I stopped playing because the coop mission were fustrating if fun short term.
Congrats Strag. You are the man to lead this game into our collective TG hearts.

Re: Tactical Gamer launches Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Very cool. Something tells me I won't be playing my usual squad leader/FT leader BF2 role in GRAW for quite a while. Which is a good thing. (Keep quiet, Bommando
