What are the specs on the 2U? Unmetered service does tend to be more expensive, but in most cases you're better off with a fixed bandwidth cap unless you're using enormous amounts of data. And by enormous I'm talking about ranges well above 2 terabytes of transit per month.

Re: WOLFServers - Our New Battlefield Partner
The conquest server appeared yesterday and I can connect, but my pings are about the same with or without the GameRail connection.

It's a Compaq DL380, dual CPU's, used as a combination web/forum/game/TeamSpeak server. Mostly Tribes 2, but thinking of adding ET:QW when it comes out.

Re: WOLFServers - Our New Battlefield Partner
I have tried everything to fix my lag issues. I have good ping on the TG servers, but I always seem to lag when coming into contact with an opponent. I bought a gaming router from DLink and I called Brighthouse constantly. They even found a rats nest in a box on the line. I still had lag. I had Roadrunner raise my service to 10MB down/1 MB up and I still had problems with lag.
I read about Gamerail here and tried it out. What a difference. It is like night and day. I have now gone back down to 7MB down/512 up with no issues either.
I live in the Tampa area and at first, Gamerail's best ping was Texas even though I actually liver closer to Atlanta because Atlanta was the worst ping for me. I emailed them, received a reply and within a few days it was fixed.
It is not perfect by any means, but it is FREE so I cannot complain. It makes gaming a lot more fun though.

Re: WOLFServers - Our New Battlefield Partner
Do we have any plans on using/moving servers to the New York site in the future? Is it technically possible even?
Reason i ask is this shaves of around 15 ms for european players. I understand that this adds 15 ms for west coast players, but maybe that's acceptable?

Re: WOLFServers - Our New Battlefield Partner
I'd have to agree with superfast. Bringing the server to New York would make my ping lower, seeing as I'm in New York. Not to mention, the server would be having more fun in New York. We want a happy server, after all.

Re: WOLFServers - Our New Battlefield Partner
I would use the contact site admins forum for this superfast. You will get a better response there.
I think it's a grand idea. Anywhere on the East coast would work.

Re: WOLFServers - Our New Battlefield Partner
Something to consider as in a previous clan, and being with Wolf, I had moved servers from one location to another to improve ping for members. I ended up with a different IP address and the bookmarks in 2142 showed dead. The server population never recovered and the server eventually died as many people who had our server bookmarked never bothered to search us out and change the bookmark.
However, with TG and the large number of supporting members, this may not be an issue. I am just relating a real experience when we under went a similar discussion/move and the end result of it.
