This is indeed very interesting. To me it seems this will alleviate some of the gaming confusion I suspect
TG goes through and WILL go through as it grows. And believe you me,
TG has been growin like gangbusters without us really even trying.
Apo, you know your timing is perfect with addressing this situation because '07-'08 look to be the largest gaming market growth years in history. There are so many GREAT games out there encompassing many different genres, many of which
TG is more then capable of supporting. Where most gaming communities would perish under growing pains such as this,
TG will flourish.
As far as the MMO scene goes. I believe
WoW served as a great model for
TG development. Many of the players that play
TG-
WoW end up playing other games
TG supports, and hence become supporting members. This is one reason you find me now looking for that next "diamond-in-the-rough" MMO for us to play. With '08 looking to be the biggest MMO year ever, it's only natural we shift our stance a bit to go with the times. Granted, I also believe we shouldnt bite off more then we can chew in these regards either - it's a gradual process. We also shouldn't just go and support whatever game comes out unless it's truly worthy of our efforts.
I'm REAL keen on the gaming development aspect of
TG. There are SO many betas going on and so many people in
TG who are devs, media, or have programming skills. Consolidating something like this would be great and make it a lot easier for us to identify newer gaming technologies and throw ideas around. This in turn brings in more gamers, and more supporting members.. and on and on. Not to mention, NDAs are more easily maintained.
And know this... the wider (and more organized) stance we take, the more perks (clan listings, free games, exclusive betas, etc.) we get from the gaming companies. Believe you me... many companies already salivate at obtaining
TG support for their games.
