Tactical Gamer University - Forum rules & everything you need to know
Tactical Gamer University Forum Rules
- No vulgar language or profanity (This includes inappropriate words, inappropriate sexual references and other vulgar statements).
- No threatening, abusive or harassing comments.
- No slanderous or libelous posts (Knowingly making false claims about a company, organization or an individual are prohibited).
- No discussion or challenge to our editing policy is allowed within the forums. If you disagree, or want clarification as to why a particular topic, post or individual was removed, you must contact a TGU Instructor or the Dean of TGU. Tactical Gamer staff will NOT respond to any inquiries or challenges of these rules or decisions on the public forum, however, we will respond to email / PM inquiries.
- No advertising or product marketing, other then direct Tactical Gamer material is allowed. An advertisement is categorized as an outright attempt to solicit business and any such posts may be removed. You may not link to advertise a product or service and we reserve the right to delete any link for any reason.
- Do not engage in "flame-wars" or excessive exchange of confrontational postings. Debate is important, but users should not try to provocatively "pick a fight." While we encourage lively debate, we will not tolerate personal attacks. Any person attacking another forum member will receive a warning and have their message removed. Any future incident thereafter, will result in that member being removed from the forums and Tactical Gamer gaming environment.
- No spamming; do not post the same message in every topic with different titles, but with the same message. Only post your message into the topic it most relates too. Members are to respect the designated TOPIC AREAS when posting their message. This includes off-topic and sales information that does not belong in the Main Forum area. Those who post messages not relating to the topic area, will have the threads closed or the posts deleted. The inclusion of pictures within messages is allowed on this site. Referring to images on other sites should be done so sparingly if at all. This not only uses up bandwidth between sites, but often the images are copyrighted and protected by that site. Images or links to images are not to be included on our site without the express written permission of the owner of the copyrighted image(s). When posting images try to keep them under 640 x 480 resolution and under 20K.
- TGU forums serve as a venue for players to discuss training, schedule events and request training. Therefore, heated discussions about religion, politics, morality issues and borderline pornography pics are inappropriate. This kind of posting behavior has no place on our TGU boards, so if players wish to discuss these type of polarizing issues, they should find other boards that sponsor and encourage discussion of this type of subject matter.

Becoming a TGU Instructor
Passing on your knowledge and experience is not only great for the whole community, but rewarding personally as well. We feel our work here at the TGU is an important component of TG that enables new players to familiarize themselves with components of the various games played within the TG community. Additionally, TGU is a place to meet more experienced players that can mentor their progress as they develop skills and tactics to use in game.
In an effort to keep TGU focused on active teaching, there is a policy on tenure and activity if you wish to become an instructor and remain active. This policy is meant to keep the TGU Instructor roster up-to-date and to ensure our player community has an accurate knowledge of who is and who is not a TGU active instructor. It is very important for the integrity of the TGU to have an accurate listing of instructors and to maintain activity within that roster.
The policy on Tenure and Activity has the following components:
Only active instructors will maintain access to the administrative forums and maintain the designation as a TGU instructor.
To be an active instructor, you must design, teach and post results of at least 1 TGU class in 60 days (Subject to change).
Active instructors should check the TGU forums as often as feasible possible.
Active instructors should check the Class Request Sub Forum to monitor the needs of the community and help the TGU team identify training requirements.
To become a TGU-I you must first now have at least 6 months of activity with TG proper. When you apply to become a TGU-I, you must submit a lesson plan to the TGU-TRO, who will then have you undergo a TS interview. If accepted as a Student instructor, the lesson plan you submitted will be used for your first class. In which either the TRO or a TGU-SI will sit in and evaluate your teaching style, and ability.

TRAINING AWARDS
Tactical Gamer University (TGU) switched to a system that awards training pins on November 22, 2008. Training pins replace the previously awarded training ribbons used to signify completed instructor lead classes. All ribbons previously awarded for training must be converted to pins - no one should be using training ribbons in their signature. Please refer to this policy post for the original announcement: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/1142660-post1.html. Any questions on this policy should be directed to the game title instructors or other TGU personnel.
TGU Training Class Pins
These are awared by TGU to students who fully complete the class and show awareness of the new skills. Advanced classes will shed in new light into different areas of your game. These classes require more adept students and they will be tested in these abilities. Awards by TGU are posted here. If your name is missing for a class, please notify your class instructor. If they cannot be reached in a allowable amount of time, contact the title lead instructor or the deputy dean.

Advancement:
Basic infantry must be passed or signed off on by a instructor before any advanced/specialized class can be attended.
Silver Pins are the basic class for specialized training modules. Gold Pins are reserved for the most advanced classes of thier specialized training module. Tests will be performed on the field to qualify all students for completion of any specialized training module. If a test is failed, You have a 1 month grace period to study and re-test privately with your game instructors to pass the module. If you fail again or surpass the 1 month grace period, A retake of the entire module is required.
Instructors
After sucessful completion of a course, the instructor of the course also qualifies for the TGU training pin associated with the class.
This policy applies ONLY to active TGU instructors that are on duty from May 1, 2010 forward. Instructors that have retired from TGU prior to May 1, 2010 are not eligable for this policy and the ribbons contained in it.
Active TGU instructors will be awarded the Drill Sergeant Ribbon for the amount of classes taught.
Ribbons are approved by RIBBONS to support this new system. Authorization was given on May 3, 2010 to install this policy.
These special TGU ribbons do not need to be submitted through the regular approval process. This is internal to TGU.
Those who have not yet earned it and future instructors, will be required to submit CCN's or "Class Completion Notifications" to the Training and Recruitment Officer before the appropriate ribbons can be awarded.
The ribbon list is as follows:
Class 1: Must have first taught a successful class as a "Student-Instructor" and must teach 2 successful classes afterword.
Class 2: Must have taught 4 classes total.
Class 3: Must have taught 8 classes total.
Class 4: Must have taught 14 Classes total.
Class 5: Awarded by the Dean to thee most devoted and long standing members of TGU.
Point of contact is Dean TGU for this policy.
TGU reserves the right to make changes as needed. Check back often for changes in the SOP.
