BFCL now has a TF2 League
I got a PM from "A Moral Center" a day or so ago and figured I'd put this to the general TG:TF2 community.
So, here's the gist: Quote:
Here is a link to their promotion graphic and webpage:

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
Just a heads up. TG has been participating in their 2142 leagues for some time now. Good fun is had by all.

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
CAL is a little to hardcore for most players at TG. If someone wanted to throw together a team to compete in CAL, that would be fine. I just would want to make sure they were putting on a mature front if they decided to be an "official" TG team.
Other than that, BFCL seems to have a lot of friendly scrims going on, but they have little on the TF2 front so far. I can't really find any information on who has bothered to put together a TF2 team yet and they haven't setup a dedicated forum. So, if we're looking to get into this, we could do so on the ground floor. I personally am interested (and have registered on the forums), but I am concerned about having time to dedicate to running a team. But this isn't a one-shot deal: TG has numerous teams on the BF2 and BF2142 front, so it's not like we're restricted to one team. I will say this: here are the rules for the TF2 matches. So, if you can field a team of 6, the only thing I would really require is that a Supporting Member be the team leader if it's going to be an "official" TG team. I mean, if we wanted to: this could be our "in-house" scrim. I would think these guys could do a much better job at running the thing than I could and organization would be more effective. I'm really just throwing ideas out right now.

I was in CAL-O for a while. It's a great way to learn how much you can hate your e-friends and how much fun you can take out of your game.
![]() If we were to field a competitive team, I'd like to see most/all of them be SMs.

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
1) It would seed the formation of In-house Squads for TF2 or at least appropriate adoption of the game into existing IHSs.
2) Need moar SMs. 3) It's a bargain. You recall that crappy little clan attempt I was involved in. $22 a month for a server we only used about eight times a month. For less than four month's server rental TG's giving you a decent amount of community (compared to ZOMG NONE) on a laundry list of games for a year. 4) SMs are likely to be more reliable. They've made an actual commitment. We suffered a half-dozen people who were full of eyeballs until exactly one week after we admitted them to the clan. The CSS In-House Tornament had its share of no-show issues, too.)

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
Any team that is put together for this league can have a team forum setup at TacticalConflict.com. Using our sister site for team forum does allow for all SMs and non-SMs to participate. These are typically one-time teams however we have had some teams stay together and continue to use tacticalconflict.com.
If a team actually becomes a Tactical Gamer in-house squad, they would have to follow all of the requirements of an IHS which means all would have to be SMs.

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
The need of more SMs makes sense as a reason, though one's first reaction would be that being in a TG in-house squad/team/etc. is dependent on how much money one can put down, rather than how good you are, and how well you work on a team- both of which are the primary reasons behind TG, if I understand correctly. Like I said, it makes sense when explained, but I guarantee you there have been a few people who've read this and thought, "Ack, I thought differently of this group"... despite any actual good reasons for the action.
Just sayin'.

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
You are adding the "rather than how good you are" part. Teamwork is required to play here. Being an SM doesn't protect you from the rules. You don't need to be the fastest gun in the west to play TG, and especially not in TF2. No aim? No problem. We can use a Medic on offense and a Demo to paint the control points.
The fact is in house squads are SM-only. That's what keeps the servers that "a few people" play on running. It is logical that if TG were to field a competitive team, it would be an IHS, or close to one. And finally, TF2 needs a box with some muscle. We're tanking to 18, even to 9 ticks per second, when the server is loaded up. Last night half a dozen players were grouching the lag problem, and they should. But we have limited options at this point. If we can get TF2 to draw in more SMs, we can hopefully justify getting our own box back like we used-ta-have before dramageddon ruined everything.

I don't see TG members harassing regulars to pay or forcing them at any point. It's a choice a player needs to make for himself at some point in his/her "career" at TG. Sure, there are some benefits SMs have that regulars don't, but SMs aren't exempt from TG SOP. Anyone who joins TG for the specific purpose of gaining access to those benefits may not be happy with their choice. I became an SM almost 4 years ago because I support this community and it supported me. Getting reserved slots and e-mail was just a bonus. Without SMs, IHSs wouldn't even be a possibility.

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
BFCL now has their first TF2 team registered.
So, I'll put it out there: who is interested in competing in a 6vs6? EDIT: I've been informed you can have 18 members on your team, so making the commitment if players are AWOL would be easy. So, I'll throw my hat into the ring as a sub.

Re: BFCL now has a TF2 League
I think we need an IHS with a TF2 focus!! If anyone has questions on how to set one up, let me know - it's super easy... basically just takes a PM to Apophis letting him know your intentions
