Re: Some Cinematic Moments on the Server
Just wait until the standard reaches eight or sixteen cores. We've been living in a projection/rasterisation world because drawing triangles requires a linear amount of horsepower. Raytracing (ie, Pixar) has a high amount of overhead, but adding complexity doesn't increase overhead by much. We're approaching the point when real-time raytracing takes less effort than rasterising. Then things will really start to look good. I.E., reflections (mirrors) and remote rendering (start thinking in portals, infinite portals) causes almost no performance hit. It will be glorious.
Would you like to learn more?
By request, and a whole lot of effort on the subject's part.

I was creating a more awesome version of a number of fairy tales when I was magically switched to spec. Which is a shame.
(Did you really need to quote the images? I think the context would be sufficiently clear.)
