Anyone see this steam error?
Can't believe I can't google up an answer to this problem nor does it come up in a forum search at their crappy slow forums. My god, their forums make a 2400 baud modem seem like lightning.
Anyway, I run the initial installer (to install steam, not even to TF2 yet) and it goes fine, once I click "finish" to continue the installation, I get this:

Can someone help me with this?

Re: Anyone see this steam error?
I've googled a couple of links. First off (if you're using XP) do you have Service Pack 2 installed? After that, make sure you have .net framework up to 3.1 (I think).
Other than that, run a scan for spyware and viruses. I'll keep digging and see what I find.

Another thing that might work: disable or uninstall your Anti-virus software and any and all active spyware/firewall programs you may be running. Then re-install steam.

Re: Anyone see this steam error?
go into your steam folder and delete the client.blob file. IF that doesnt work go over to your neighbors house and throw some of those old red bulbs on the drive way....seems to help
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

@(&$(&$@#@$#********!!!
There is no client.blob file, the installation hasn't even completed. I upgraded .net, installed every single patch from windows update, rebooted, same thing. I click the initial MSI file to install, then there is a "finish" button that says steam will continue the installation. This is the point it craps out.
I did ask microsoft for some "hotfix" that clears up this issue for valve games...not sure if it will fix steam itself.
Kinda sucks, because this is the first thing that hasn't worked on my computer since I built it over 3 years ago. damnit!

Okay, got it installed.
Logged off and logged on with the admin account. I have admin priveledges, but something stopped me from installing it. So I'm trying to get logged on right now, but steam is running.

Re: Anyone see this steam error?
My account is an admin account, but I logged off and logged in as the actual "Administrator" account. Honestly, the only time I have used that account is for the initial windows install.
Not sure what the deal is, but I have a steam account and steam is updating right now. I hope I can play these games after purchasing them.
