Alright some explain this
Last night on some random server - I witnessed a 30sec uber between a Soldier and Medic
Its seemed like an exploit with a macro because after spectating this duo for a bit once uber was built (playing well btw) they would rush in uber and you could barely see the healing thread keeping them connected because he was starting and stopping uber soo quickly (macro) - so I assume that this extended his uber to that 30 sec mark i know it was 30 + secs because they killed me and my spawn was 14 sec and they were still uber when I came back into just die again from them and to see them uber again when I respawned - not to mention the others in vent at the time were all complaining about this uber ass hat.
So just a heads up, complaint or new exploit?

Re: Alright some explain this
I wouldn't be surprised if there were already aimbots and the like for TF2. People love hacking stuff.

It is fairly easy to create a script that would toggle the secondary attack very fast, but once you start an uber it runs out whether you are pressing the right mouse button or not.
or am I wrong about that?
My guess is it was either a hack or the server was modified to have a longer uber effect.

My guess is that it was a game disconnect. Strange things happen when a guy loses his connection in the middle of something.
Or maybe it was an exploit... we'll know soon enough if it was.Peace through fear... since 1947!

I did some quick searches this afternoon and yes, there are already aimbots for TF2. Can't they just leave games alone? Too bad Vac and PB are just for show, sure they catch some. They miss the major guys who buy these things and abuse them though.

I'd have to double check the configuration, but I am pretty sure out server is setup for VAC.
The problem is for some reason VAC is turning itself off. I was looking at some threads over at the steam forums today, and there are some servers having issues with VAC. It seems ours is one of them.

Nope my friend who teamswitched and asked - he was running a macro to switch from medic gun to needle at lighting pace and for some reason uber was extended to 30+ secs

Re: Alright some explain this
It's not a script. Uber runs out whether or not you are ubering someone else. What happened was the medic timed out so there were no more server / client updates and therefore the last packet just repeated. I have been healed to 300 for up to 20 seconds after a medic disappears from the battlefield. Its the netcode, and I cannot think of a solution that would be appropriate (timeout detection seems difficult to implement with a minimal amount of resource usage).
All TF2 servers are VAC secured so IF someone is actually cheating (and I doubt the aimbots out there really work) and they are banned they won't be able to play on most Steam games.

Re: Alright some explain this
If a medic is doing this with someone else, you can still kill them easily. Even though they are flashing between regular and uber, they are vulnerable just the same. The part that makes it an exploit is that you can blow your uber first, use the exploit to stop the timer from going down, and then use it when your in trouble.
Assuming the medics on both teams are staying alive, this completely screws up a very important part of the game. Generally, the team that blows uber first loses the battle at large. The second uber gets to point blank range, and when the enemy is vulnerable you kill them. With this exploit someone can blow the uber first and still have it available after the non-exploiting uber is done. If that makes sense...
I dont like it. Obviously wasn't intended, and since the heavy exploit was handled quickly id bet valve will be all over this shortly.
As for aimbots, this IS the source engine, so id be surprised if they aren't out there already. VAC is more like a home security system. It makes you feel good, but the badguys still get in regardless.
