How to change your in-game name.
As this question has come up a few times, I feel I should address it in it's own thread.
With TF2 (and I assume Valve is going to implement this with all Steam games that run on or are upgraded to the OrangeBox engine), your in-game name is tied to your community name.
There are two ways to change it:
1. While in-game, open the Community Tab (Shift+Tab, by default). Click "Settings" at the bottom. Under "Nick-Name" enter your desired name. Than click "Ok" at the bottom.
2. Open up the Community Tab in Steam (Shift+Tab, by default if you're in-game). Click "Edit SteamID." Under "SteamID," type in the new name you want to use. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save."
There, you're all set.Last edited by TheFeniX; 10-16-2007 at 12:51 PM.

Re: How to change your in-game name.
It's much, much, faster going through the Settings Tab instead of the Community Tab when you Shift+Tab in-game. There is also a Settings button in Steam on the bottom the achieves the same thing.

Re: How to change your in-game name.
I figured that one out myself after asking repeatedly in game and no one asking
I hate how it is tied to the community now. Of course I don't like change
Btw, I tried to find TG's TF2 but the server seems to be down

Re: How to change your in-game name.
Console: setinfo name <whatyouwant>
I haven't used this but I'm told it only works until mapchange or for that server or whatever. Still, bind it to something convenient if you want to show one name without it being on Steam Commie.

Re: How to change your in-game name.
this was so much simpler when you could just drop the console and type 'name "whatever"'.
