Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
Ugh Lazytown...
I'm sorry but I can't stand maps that allow the enemy team to move in on your spawn. Sure, there's an invisible push wall that keeps out scouts, snipers, pyros, and all other hit scan weapons, but demomen and soldiers can launch themselves right in, then have a medic heal them at range, and suddenly it's spawn camp city.
This isn't what FF is though, Knifeheavy. This is immaturity if it's your own team killing yourselves. We have FF on plenty of TG servers and this type of chaos doesn't happen long term. When it does happen, the offending players are removed, not allowed to keep killing the players.
Even if an admin isn't around, if a demo video with the player's steam id and name is provided, the admins can then handle the issues remotely, keeping those players from our servers.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
Well I was just showing it to disproved the 'hard coded' theory of FF=OFF
which I believed.. until that server.
edit: Dont worry no pubbies were harming in my TKing btw - everyone that I TKed was in my vent so we could all laugh about it.
FF=ON made for a completely different style of play I didnt care for it - its a better bezerk game imo.
SO you server admins out there is there an option for FF?Last edited by KnifeHeavy; 11-05-2007 at 05:07 PM. Reason: clarification

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
I've also seen servers with critical hits turned off (or at least advertised as such), which is also hard-coded. They do some low-level modification on the server side to enable it.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
There is no server-side option for FF. As ednos points out, there has been some low-level (DLL) hackery that changes the game into something that it was not supposed to be able to do.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
It depends on whether or not you like the "mod"
If you do, its called a mod, if not you call it hacking, in the end its all hacking, but that just has a negative spin to it. This game really doesn't need FF on. I played when it was on and it was horrible, demoman killed everyone around, team-killing while looking for spys, if just wasn't any fun at all.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
No. A "Mod" creates a new DLL using a development framework that the developers have provided. FF-ON is a hexedit.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
Any thoughts to FF=ON at a very low percentage, say 20%? I think the game would retain most of its playability but sort of force people to think that little bit more and put in the effort to be a bit more tactical. An additional small personal payoff (more health) for better teamwork/communication/tactics.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
I prefer the ability to detect spies with pyros. Also, defending the last point on Granary would be a MESS with any sort of friendly fire.

Re: For those who wanted a FF=ON Server...
Is it true that disguised spies carry your name? or is it just a random name from a guy on your team?
One of the last games I played, I had a guy sitting next to my sentry for more than 5 minutes when I noticed his name was GhostDog. I checked our team 's list and didn't see a second GD... that 's when I finally understood what was going on lol (yeah I 'm still a n00b at TF2). Funny thing was that he was just sitting there, doing nothing
