hello,

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this...yesterday afternoon I was logging on for some TF2 action..but my ping to ALL of my favorite servers (including the TG servers) was in the 500 to 700 range!! Normally I connect to the TG servers well below 100, sometimes even in the 50's.

Nothing out of the normal happened on my end...I'm not sure what the heck happened. I won't be able to check it again until I get home from work, but I was just curious if anyone else experienced that last night?? Something must have screwed up between my end and the servers...but I hope it doesn't stay like this..

Do a traceroute next time you see this. From a windows command prompt:

tracert 75.125.55.2

Daxx

If your ping was that high in general, you were likely downloading/uploading something. Or someone was if your on a network.

yeah this has happened to me a few times aswell, normally the TG server is 150 ping but at that time it was above 500. Even uk servers were over 200 ping.

I have no idea why this happening...I still have a good ping to quite a few servers..just not the TG servers and a few other of my favorites..

I do know that all those numbers are the different hops that my ping takes to get to the TG server...but I have no idea why it gradually increases from hop 5 until the server...I've always had a good connection to both TF2 TG servers....

Maybe you can get a topigraphical representation of how it is routed. Not that that would make a difference, but you never know.


Could be a router is getting swamped and slowing down because so many people are online. This isn't really my specialty.

Superfast

Looks like your provider has routed you over a bad/slow/congested link or your provider has trouble against TG's provider for some reason. Either way, report this error to your provider if this is still a problem.

Just a quick update, apparently I wasn't the only person in my area experiencing this issue. The entire metro St. Louis area was reporting similiar problems...Charter fixed the problem finally after about 4 days...I never did find out what the exact problem was. But all is back to normal. I'm still seriously considering switching to DSL after the Thanksgiving holiday though...
