Scrim: TG vs TFR
So, root's been harassing me about this again. We had talked about possibly doing it this weekend, but I've got Christmas with my girlfriend's parents and my own this weekend. I may have time for a scrim, but I doubt it. We could put it off a week if the scrim team wants a chance to practice together.
So, anyways: here was our original roster.

Root has proposed three rules:
No spawncamping - this is extended from our rule. There will be no intentional camping of the outside of a spawn.
No Intel Camping - No building of turrets in enemy intel room. No significant force left in the intel room, unless the intel is in there. Your job is to grab the intel and move on.
Proper Conduct - Being representatives of TG, this is pretty self-explanatory.
The match will be Saturday, December 29th at 4pm Eastern. We will be playing 8v8. Maps will be 2Fort and Mach2, with Hydro to be used in event of a tie. CTF maps will be played to 5 captures FTW.Last edited by TheFeniX; 12-28-2007 at 04:45 PM.

I'm still in... I want to feed Root a pyro flavored cookie.

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
That's completely up to you guys. TFC and TF2 are very dynamic games. Sticking with a single class can lead to disastrous results. Play whatever class you want, but work out a game-plan. Who knows, you may all end up as soldiers at one point during the match.
EDIT: Root has also expressed interest in going from 7vs7 to 8vs8. So, if we can swing one more player, TFR should be able to. But, that's completely up to you guys.

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
I WILL return I swear to god this weekend. Everything chaotic in my life will finally come to pass and all I want to do for Christmas is just get TF2 going again. Just bear with me till friday folks, I will be back in the fold and kicking so hard the friction will cause sparks to ignite the pants of someone sitting next to you.

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
That's why I was asking -- if team configuration would be part of the strategy or if it'll be about changing classes to find and respond to weaknesses. I've heard that some competitions are based around fixed or prescribed team configurations.

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
I don't think there would be any restrictions in classes. Adapt, change, and overcome!

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
I dislike the "No camping intel" regulation- if a team lets another team get in that far, and can't clear then out, then there's no reason to have a one-sided game like that go on for any longer than it should have to.
I'd also say something about the "No spawn camping" rule, as I feel it's really never necessary on official maps, but lately the custom maps haven't been able to really overcome that (though the changes made to Turbine for v3 did so excellently).
Edit: Oddly, Bc2ID, when I looked back at this thread, your Patton quote struck me as oddly relevant to my first point :PLast edited by Doktor Goku; 12-18-2007 at 09:39 PM. Reason: Addition

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
As the match will be hosted on the TFR server, I figured I'd let them set the rules for the match as long as it wasn't anything too restrictive. As it sits, none of the rules should really affect the game all that much as we're really looking at this from on enjoyment aspect.

When I was TG, those things were implied in the TG primer. Good sportsmanship fits in with teamwork, communication & objective, but before wiping the floor with you guys.I dislike the "No camping intel" regulation
I'd also say something about the "No spawn camping" rule
Wear whichever TF2 outfits you like to your wake. By the time you've been batted, burned, sticky bombed, turreted and rocketed we won't even need to send the heavies in to clean out the last cowardly survivors.I've heard that some competitions are based around fixed or prescribed team configurations.
AD give me a shout on xfire today and we'll figure out date, time, maps and team size.BFCL TF2 league admin

Re: Scrim: TG vs TFR
I'd still like to participate, but this weekend is bad for me (holidays). I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what will be the scrim schedule.
