Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
Ew. CSS.
On another note, glad to see you here. Hope to play with you soon!

Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
Well I just got the Orange Box today... So hopefully I'll see some of you guys around.
My main game thus far has been BF2142 but I'm going to give TF2 a try, and from what little I've played of Portal I can't wait to play the rest, so either was I should have some fun...
Any tips for the newb?

Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
I suggest the first round you play you should be Medic. You will be able to help your team by doing nothing but healing your teammates. That will let you watch everyone else in action, and you'll see what the classes do and how they do it. After a round or two, switch to the class you think will fit your style and work from there. You might have a favorite, you might like them all.
TF2 is very far from a simulation game. The power level is mostly set such that the winner is the one who uses his weapons and abilities most efficiently, not who's fastest, most accurate, or has the biggest gun.
Oh, and don't let the drama that kicks up about the updates and balance and such distract you from the game. That's all crap that you need a few weeks of experience to even notice.

Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
I would advise going for the "Head of the Class" achievement right off of the bat. All you need to do is play a full round as each class. It can help you find your niche. I agree with Magna; try medic out at the beginning. Not only will it help you learn how the game is played and what the maps are like, but it will also help you with rudimentary skills like dodging and "what a spy looks like" that can be carried over to other classes.

Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
Greetings, all.
I also am looking at give TF2 a try. I have been active in 2142 for a while and I love the game, but i keep hearing how much fun Team Fortress is so I grabbed a copy when it was on sale and I'm giving it a go.
So far, after a few hours of play I know it is a completely different game than 2142, and a hell of a lot of fun.

Glad you found the experience sufficiently exhilarating! Yeah, 2142 and TF2 are so different, it'd be like comparing apples and...well...buffalo. Hope to see you on the server...frequently!

Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
Well I got the orange box quite some time ago. I was too obsessed with Portal and Half-Life 2 to even take a look at TF2. Well now I'm here, the frequent BF2142 player. When I do open TF2 I usually don't see anyone on our server. When does everyone usually play?

Re: New To The Server? Introduce Yourself Here!
Seeding time is officially on the odd hours Eastern Mandated Time, however, if two or three see each other on the Steam Commie list, I'll throw an announcement on the Steam group and we'll seed it then. Recently we've been running from 4-ish to 11 or so.
