It would be cool if they implemented a feature from Resistance: Fall of Man- basically, when you talk, your in-game character moves their mouth as though they're speaking, also.

Not a large change, but it would be pretty nice (and help with the videos, too).

Actually that features been around for a while (check YouTube for Chocolate Milk, not work safe) and I think TF2 does have that.

The models lip sync when it's the character speaking (like one of the automatic taunts or orders and such) but unless I have been totally missing it, they don't do it when a player uses VoIP. I don't think it's possible to lip sync some of the noises I've heard over VoIP anyway. Since you can't hear the enemy team's voice comms it would be really weird if their character models were moving their mouths and there was no sound.

As for using such a feature for making videos... I know that you can get HL2 characters to speak whatever you want with the proper addons in Garry's Mod. The big new update for Garry's Mod that adds all of the Orange Box content is supposed to come out in the next few days. That could make it pretty easy to make videos with assets from TF2.

The Garry's Mod update that lets you use TF2, EP2, and Portal content (if you have the games) came out today if anyone is interested.

    I doubt it.

While it is fairly trivial to load arbitrary assets into Gmod I don't know if it will load Orange Box stuff from a different Steam account by itself (I assume you have both Gmod and OB installed on the same computer). If it doesn't it might be possible to extract models and such from the TF2 game cache file and use them... though such activities may be of questionable legality*. If you really wanted to make movies or something I'd probably be easier and faster to just spend the ten bucks on Gmod on the same account as the Orange Box.

Of course if you had just purchased all of your Steam games on the same account in the first place...

    *So don't do it.

Awesome, I LOVED this map back in TFC. Flag defense was fairly difficult because 1-2 SGs just wouldn't cut it. There's numbers of different attack paths (three or four I believe) with varying degrees of danger on each. If they keep with the spirit of the map, it should play well on TF2.

Actually you don't need Garry's Mod to do this. To lip sync you can just load up Face Poser from the SDK. Just load your audio file and the SDK automatically lip syncs. You'll only have to change the range of emotion and some fine tuned details to get it for the full effect. Save the file, throw it in a map with a trigger and bam you've got your custom animation with lip synced audio and everything. Neet huh?

Well, if you want to do it like that

I don't have any experience with the SDK, so I was just suggesting the way I know how to do it. Your way sounds a lot easier and more reliable as far as results anyway. I need to learn how to use Hammer so I can make some CTF maps for TF2.
