I'm glad we were able to return to the main point. It's like I said before... something strikes me wrong about posting ribbons in your own sig to show what you've done. I feel as though reputation should spread on its own. Of course, we could post our entire gaming resumes on our sigs... :P

Re: Ribbons?

He's trolling because he's bored or something. Probably both; bored and something.

These ribbons signify one particular playing style in an internet game.

Assuming that it's an "honorable" and "proper" and "mature" playing style, then one can assume that it's respectable to play in that style. Awesome! The reputation should spread on its own, without having to post specific pictures on one's signature in an internet forum to show others that they should give the player respect.

Really? You're in the military? Awesome! What was your accomplishment in the military? Is that ribbon regarding the TG vs. TFR match? You helped defend our nation, serving honorably, protecting life here and elsewhere, thereby earning a ribbon for distinguished service... by playing a game online? "Oh, wait..."

Real people earn real ribbons every day for real service saving real people's lives. Comparing internet forum pictures to that seems- just a bit- inappropriate.

Hey, look! I've got one now, too!
Dude, relax it is just a game and a gaming community. As I have stated these ribbons are a display of a job well done. You do not have to participate in this. I take offense of your mocking our "community", one that you are a part of. If you don't want to display the ribbons fine...but do not mock anyone that does. People put a ton of effort into running this place and do it for a simple thank you. Keep this in mind when you go trolling about insulting people.

I am now closing this thread as it has gotten way off the track.
