TF2 Update 2/19/08

Restart your Steam Client, this is a good one.

Quote:
Team Fortress 2

Fixed Badlands exploits and missing textures

Fixed tv_enable resetting maxplayers value

Fixed a case where a spy stabbing from the front of a player would score a backstab

Fixed stats being reported incorrectly for some players

Dropped weapons now replenish half of your max ammo when picked up

Added exec'ing a cfg\.cfg file on the client when you select a class to play (for real this time!)

Reverted mp_forcecamera changes from previous release and set TF2 default back to 1

Wow. I was bashing my head against the desk trying to figure that one out about an hour before the TFR match. It was working fine when I set it up a week before and then that came up.

Ammo change = BOOO. When I've got my pants down in the middle of turbine with 5/1 ammo, I need more than 12 bullets to get home.

So, they're taking facestabs away before fixing backstabs? I may as well just attack with a foam We're #1 finger.

Thank god facestabs are not killer anymore. I mean, it should bloody your face, but deplete 300hp? I guess if the blade enters the right place.

As for ammo, its not like I had an easy time keeping that minigun loaded with whats left behind by my victims as it was. Its going to make it much harder to keep pushing forward as a heavy without running dry.

I guess it is all for balance sake in the end of the day. one change helps a class and another might hurt it.

They 90% fixed stabs, so I'm less ranty than usual. However, facestab is still savage against scout, and I did have a couple stabs slip on me. Compared to a couple betwen each death, that's an improvement.

braided did you read what magna wrote? he still gets facestabs. never trust the boys at valve to REALLY fix what they said they fixed, e.g.:
-Added exec'ing a cfg\.cfg file on the client when you select a class to play (for real this time!)

Hmm...shouldnt it have been "real" the first time?

Awesome- exploit fixin' and ammo pickups. I'm glad they changed the ammo from dropped weapons- they're still precious, but not so much so.

This engie likes the metal :P

Re: TF2 Update 2/19/08

at least they're trying to fix ****. They could let this game go, like so many other companies and update once every 4 months. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Re: TF2 Update 2/19/08

Braided, Ferris:

Stabs are probably as fixed as they are going to get. Scouts can still be taken from the front, but that's because of their motion speed, how latency correction works, and Source in general. I think/know the facestab cases I saw last night could be resolved, but doing so would likely introduce more complexity to the system and thus, more opportunities for problems.

ZOMG SCOUT FACESTAB FIX: Stop pushing your face into his knife and stay about three metres away from the spy. He can't chase you, he can't stab you, and the (improved as of 14/15th?) scattergun kills him in two shots while he can fire bullets right at you all day and they'll all veer tward the edges of the screen.

Since when do you play Engineer? Back on the 24/7 2Forts? You must be falling back after that "I've perfected pyro!"-followed-by-massive-gettingkilleds event from a week ago.

Re: TF2 Update 2/19/08

Magna needs to keep ranting about Spy issues cause he wants 200 points in a match, not just a measly 100.

Heh, I still play Engie most of the time. I've not perfected pyro yet- as evidenced by that last event you mention- but I'm definitely working on it. The only server that I can really gain any experience as pyro on anymore is the BBA server, or the TG server when full of regulars- everything else is too easy.

Re: TF2 Update 2/19/08

I was going to post about this in AAR in a new thread titled "Ragnarok", but you guys beat me too it. But seriously, it messes up the chemistry of the group if Magna is happy, which makes me the one most angry, and that's only about the stupid Medic acheivement pack that they haven't released yet!

Heh. One can still hope.
