A sentry gun has 360° visual range overall, 90° active pan/scan zone, and may be oriented to any of the four cardinal directions relative to the direction the engineer faces when planting it.

You can drop the SG at other angles, you just have to do it mid-rotation. I use this when I can only line up at a 90 without falling off a ledge, but want ~45 degree angle when I drop it.

That said, I do miss the "on-the-fly" rotation from TFC. Being able to instantly adjust my direct LOF in response to a push was aces and I used it pretty often.
