Big Update Coming From Valve
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/51941
The next batch of free content for the PC edition of Team Fortress 2--including the new Goldrush map, unlockable weapons, and Meet the Scout video--is slated to arrive the week of April 20, Valve has informed Shacknews.According to a recent IGN interview, a total of three new items will be available, unlocked by earning a set number of the new class-specific achievements.Valve previously explained that the unlockable items would be equipped via a new loadout menu, suggesting that gamers will not be able to easily swap between the new tools in the midst of battle.

As an example of these tradeoffs, the unlockable medigun we're play testing right now switches out the 10 second invulnerability effect for 10 seconds of 100% chance of critical hits.------------------------------It's the first map in a new game mode we're calling "Payload", where the Blu team escorts a cart loaded with explosives into a Red base. The cart moves faster the more Blu players are near it, and contains a handy dispenser to heal and resupply them as they escort it. The Red team wins if they can keep the cart from reaching their base.
I think I just about summed it up there. I hope this weapon loadout menu is just for switching between your current weapon and the new unlockables or else good bye "Stab-Zap".--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--
I can eat a rubix cube and poop it solved.

Re: Big Update Coming From Valve
Goodbye waved to stab-sap a few updates ago when the sentries started to develop, reload rockets, and shoot you to death while "sapped."
Critcharge is cute. Demos will raep engineers like mad with that, and heavies will cut through anything made of meat. Otherwise it doesn't seem to do much.
...it's called GOLDRUSH. That was established months ago. Does it not sound like they're making the article up when they're openly naming scenarios themselves?
Three new items, let's see...
Crit-charge.
Knife-proof back armor.
Cloak Jammer.
Sounds about right.

Words cannot describe the excitement I feel. I mean, I get April 10th for The Office and then sometime during the week of the 20th for this? I knew that my boycotting of the medic class would win! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Hehe. I'm sure Gabe Newell was sitting in his office, pouring over TF2 stats late last night and thought, "Oh no! Fish isn't playing medic. Guys, hurry up and get that medic update out!"
Seriously though, I'm really looking forward to this update too. I need a reason to do something besides blowing people's brains out from across the map.

Will be interesting playing the medic again after the update, with the uber-crit, instead of ubercharge. probably in most situations though the ubercharge is better.
Cant wait for the spy new weapons, if only to see what they do with him.

A device for shutting down enemy sentry guns would be neat.

Dear Fish,
Could you please explain to me what exactly you have been boycotting and why... and then what they have done to make you stop boycotting it?
Yours truly,
Chewy

Re: Big Update Coming From Valve
Dear Chewy,
When I started playing TF2, I primarily medic'd, much like a majority of players. Instead of switching to other classes, I found that I was great at it. I was consistantly #1 on the server. When Valve announced the Medic Acheivement Pack, I was thrilled. I decided to slow down on being a Medic to keep my skills fresh. However, after they didn't release it after a few weeks like scheduled, I decided to boycott it. I refused to use a medigun for a few months. Gabe Newell obviously was like, "Hm, what's wrong with TF2? HOLY GOD THE SIX-HUNDRED FORTY-FIRST FISH ISN'T MEDIC'ING!" He then proceded to overhaul the MAP's progress and has now announced when it will be arriving. Now that they have a set week, I can now refresh mah skillz dat killz and the Gods of TF2 will be satisfied.
Forcefully Yours,
Fish #641
