Valve support is too slow.

I have an unfortunate problem with my game. I submitted a question to Valve support, but figured if you guys know what's going on I don't have to keep on waiting for them.
For now, I'm blaming Vista. Stupid Vista.

Basically when I start up the game, or even before that, my mouse is working like it always should. But whenever I join a server, my mouse works movement instead of view.
In other words, moving the mouse to the left works the same as the A key, and up the same as the W key.

In any case, my game is completely unplayable for the time being. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Seems like you lost your bindings, go to options and you should be able to change your key bindings. It might be easiest to set back to default.

As for Valve they should expedite your question in two or three days at most, unless your question didn't go through all the way.

Hope this helps

Check your CFG files.

Valve is awesome compared to nearly all other companies about answering user questions.

Though I remember a time when Steam was one of the most annoying things to deal with because of all of its problems. >

Re: Valve support is too slow.

Valve is the only company that has ever gotten back to me on technical support, in 3 days no less. I know that might seem like a long time to some but considering I never get a response back is just too dang irresponsible.

Re: Valve support is too slow.

I take back the title of my post. Valve is awesome. All the same, I'd rather get instant gratification from the good backstabbers around here then wait a whole 3 days.
This reminds me of a time I tried to get Microsoft tech support. I've made probably 5 calls to them, and each and every one got to India. yay outsourcing!

Microsoft tech support shall NEVER be compared to Valve's. Ever.

Likewise with Apple's to Microsofts. It's like comparing an apple to giant elephant encased in a green turd. The only comparison is that they're both biodegradable.

Re: Valve support is too slow.

I've never had to call Microsoft support but I can't say I've heard good things. That being said, I probably just jinxed myself and will need to call them shortly.

Dammit.

Re: Valve support is too slow.

I can vouch for Microsoft. I once called their tech support line and got the help I needed within the span of about 30 mins. And it was a gringo guy who helped me out(just noting this because it sucks to get someone in India who can't speak English worth a damn) Granted, it was a somewhat simple problem, but I figure the same goes for worse cases.

Re: Valve support is too slow.

One the the big things about MS is their $100 or so charge for business class tech support. They waive this charge if you can show that the issue was on their end. I called MS about 10-15 times while working my old IT job and never once had to pay. The tech guys helped me out and really didn't even care about the charge. Even one time when the issue concerned an update from MS, a tech waived the fee because "well, the update was kind of hard to find, so don't worry about it" as it was buried in TechNet.

That said, MS is not the best tech support I've ever dealt with, but they are far from the worst.

Re: Valve support is too slow.

My best tech support experience: Took my apple laptop into the nearest apple store, asked a guy at the genius bar to fix my computer. He set it down on the table, gave it a little backrub, and everything was magically fixed, also my computer was completely cleaned and my screen removed of my fingerprints

Re: Valve support is too slow.

Valve promptly informed me that my cache files were corrupt. At the cost of my saved TF2 games, the problem was solved. My guess is that the support was good because, numbers-wise, Valve is microscopic comared to Apple or Microsoft.

Considering that they're world wide and they're not just servicing just one or two type of programs... I wouldn't bet on it.
