"Not much is known about the future Pyro update, but Valve did say that fans of Team Fortress can expect the Meet the Scout video to appear in the next installment of its "meet the [class]" mini episodes."

Old news is so exciting! Next up: A preview of the medic unlock weapons, and a rumor that sapped machines will take less damage from spy weapons in an update.

Already got that covered. I got one a while back when I needed to extract all the magnetism out of a bunch of refrigerator magnets for a prank.

Of course, for the "unpainted stainless steel sports car", you're going to need to go here: http://www.delorean.com/

In my head I was kinda hoping the pyro would be next 'cause it's my favorite class. But, after seeing all the band-wagon jumpers who went for medic when the achievements came out, I probably won't be able to even use pyro for about a week 'cause there'll be 7 pyros on every server I join. Poo.

I'm in complete agreement. Pyro is definetly one of the "funner" classes to play, but after the achievement release, just like the medic, we're gonna find teams with 80% pyros. I admire Valve for continuing to add content to TF2 but the way they are doing it seems completely stupid. I'd be more inclined to shell out $20-30 bucks, and get an expansion with all the the new weapons in it, then get them free every couple months for each class. Hell, even give us only 1 new item per class, per expansion, and milk some extra money out of it.

The only good side is, a team of 7 pyros might be slightly effective. Wait till the Engie Achievement pack comes out to discover the true meaning of "epic fail."

    Re: The Pyro is Next

Actually, I'm not anticipating that as much. Medic has always been a necessary role, and it just became flooded with people "needing" to get the best stuff for that kit. Pyro, on the other hand, isn't necessary at all. Naturally, the first day or two will be full of people trying to get to at least the first unlock. After that, I imagine it to die down dramatically. pyro_achievement_box will still come out, but it won't be as big of a deal. I believe Valve has stated that going one at a time makes it a ton easier to balance, so I'd assume that's why they're doing it this way. Also, hunt down the demos of the 2nd (4th?) of February. You can see what classes will be effective during their days of glory. I forsee Heavy, Demo, and Soldier to be the most effective. Followed by Sniper.

Cant wait for whole teams of spies running around

anyway, not sure if this is common knowledge yet, but in the latest steam update news it revealed one of the pyro weapons, an axe that always crits if your enemy is on fire. the downside is half damage against non-burning players.

Link when you get the chance? That sounds interesting. More interesting than the obvious torch.

Sounds like mad beats to me. Everyone will have a burn+axe script prepared ahead of time.

    Re: The Pyro is Next

Found the quote after about an hour searching.
"We've almost completely wrapped up the next big release for Team Fortress 2, which will focus on the Pyro class, along with the Meet the Sniper movie. We've spent time looking at how the recent Medic release went, and have rolled feedback from that release into the new item designs for the Pyro and into the design of the achievements required to unlock those items. One item, shown here in concept form, will be the Axtinguisher. Although it does about half of normal damage to standard run-of-the-mill non-burning enemies, once you light someone on fire the Axtinguisher will guarantee a critical hit.

Along with all of the new content, we're also going to be making some significant changes to the Pyro class for everyone, regardless of whether they have unlocked any new items."

Thank God they're buffing the Pyro. Too weak. And I'm so glad that they're being creative. There's artwork for it already, but I forgot where it is. Hopefully they can get this one going quickly, though they've already said that the medic was the longest one (had to lay foundation, etc.).

    Re: The Pyro is Next

You didn't have to search for an hour fish, that text came up for me when I started Steam. As for the burn+axe script, the melee weapon is always the last to get unlocked (requires the most achievements) so I doubt bandwagon jumpers will have that much dedication for what is actually a very hard class to master. (or says someone who thinks he has mastered it :P)
