Is there any way to get a demo. . .

of any game played. Does the TG server save all replays of the games played on it? If so can I solicit one? If not, forgettabattit

The match server may save TV.
    The pub does not.
I record all my games, at least temporarily.
    Why don't you?

Re: Is there any way to get a demo. . .

i was using We Game but it slowed things down a bit and i have a monster rig. Maybe cause I was getting greedy and saving on high settings. should I use the demo option to save? If so do I have a way to set to save automatically or should I set to record befor each match? Why is demo saving so dos like? couldnt valve make a proper user interface for it?

I ask all this cause I had a MONSTER game when I entered the TG server yesterday at 22:30. I entered the last point on dustbowl on D, bringing in 56 points with 2 deaths. I destroyed all my previous bests, dominating 9 players, toping 46 points and 36 kills in 1 life.

My sadness is I cant share it. Anyway, how do you record MAGNA?

    Thanks.

Re: Is there any way to get a demo. . .

I put "record demrecforstabs" (I was testing if demo recording improved backstab registration.) in all of the class-specific config files. Recording begins when I select a class the first time, and it carries through mapchanges by making new DEM files with _# suffixes. I haven't actually checked to see if it will restart the sequence and overwrite on server changes or not; so if something awesome happens, whenever you actually leave a server, check the DEM files to find the one you want to keep, then rename it so it won't be overwritten.

I assume I have to find a file called Heavy.cfg or something inside the valve folders. Then open it with word pad or something and add that line anywhere?

    Thanks

You need to create them, they go alongside your config.cfg and autoexec.cfg

    demoman.cfg
    engineer.cfg
    heavyweapons.cfg
    medic.cfg
    pyro.cfg
    scout.cfg
    sniper.cfg
    soldier.cfg
    spy.cfg

I pulled the auto-record ability from the match server, but it can be turned on immediately by using the "tv_record 1" command in HLSW or the local console.

I opened heavyweapons.cfg with notepad. It was empty so I added the words

    record demrecforstabs

I dont think this worked. Did I miss something? Where should I look for the demos? What file type are they. sorry about the hassle,
    Thanks.

    Look in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<STEAM ACC>\team fortress 2\tf

    They're .dem files.

You can call them whatever you like. As I said, I was testing to see if demo recording would improve stab registration, and never bothered to change it.

OK. the files are being generated but when I use playdemo its starts to play them but shortly after I spawn it says:

    Can't record during demo playback.

I assume the instruction is hard coded into the demo cause I removed it from the .cfg file and ran again only to get the same message. Any ideas?

Lost to all. I forgot to make a copy of it while I was working on this whole switching-to-Ubuntu thing, and thus it was overwritten with the match recordings.

But fear not, as long as you keep running forward I'll keep cutting you and eventually something epic is bound to happen once again.
