Discussion: Team Fortress 2 / Team Fortress 2 - General Discussion - Three-Man Intra-mural Tournament - I was talking with Chewz about the state of the union, I mentioned a problem
I was talking with Chewz about the state of the union, I mentioned a problem with how TF2 got started here, and as usual I inspired myself.
Here are a list of the organisations hereby compelled to field a team of three to perform combat.
Atra and two |TG|-tag-wearing non-IHS-affilliated members of his choice.
Yoshi and Average Joe's
Beatnik and -F-
SirusBlk and ST
Skud and TG-6th
Dauthi and TG-11th
If a group cannot get a set of three, which I doubt, we'll work something out.
BFCL was what, Saturday night? We'll do it then. Match times will be 8, 9, and 10pm, Eastern Mandated Time. Order will be whatever is most convenient for the teams for that night.
Rules:
Each player on a team plays from one block of classes. There is one offensive player, one defensive player, and one support player.
An alternate from the team's group will be allowed, but should not be used unnecessarily. If two members cannot attend, the match will run 3v2.
Friendly fire will be on. This does not affect Pyro but there isn't much I can do about that, and really it shouldn't make a large difference.
Maps will be secret until the night of competition. However, you can likely imagine I will try to find small maps.
Week 1: Capture the Flag, playing to five captures or 30 minutes. Each capture is worth 2 points.
Week 2: Five point control, two rounds, 20 minutes per round. Each objective held at end of round is worth 2 points.
Week 3: 2/1 Defense, two rounds, 20 minutes per round. Depending on objectives secured, each round is worth five points divided (BLU-RED) 0-5, 2-3, 3-2, or 5-0.
Week 4: Tiebreakers are CTF, first capture wins. If the tie is first/second, this will determine the defending team for the final, if second/third this will determine who plays the final. In the chance of a massive tie, we will get creative.
Week 4: Final. The team with the most points must defend against the team in second. Each capture earns the second-place team one point. Play continues until either the second-place team wins by overcoming the score defecit, or until the defending team defends successfully and wins the competition.

You're forgetting the McCoys will want to play. Should I send Mrs. and invite?
I know that other MD will want to play, so I'll assume you meant SirusBlk and MD, as he's affiliated moreso with them.
Marshall and ST?
Are other teams allowed? Is there a min/max number of teams? Can there be reserves, or just play by availability?
I don't want it to get any bigger than six teams, since fitting more than three matches in one night won't really work, and since I don't want this to become a hassle to organise. I had f(MD), #641, and TFR in mind at first, but along with capping it to six teams, I also wanted to avoid overlap and I wanted people who I know have a presence on the TG forums. I rarely/never see the McCoys post here. SirusBlk contacted me earlier this week, so I'll let him handle his team -- as far as I'm concerned, MD and ST are synonymous. This isn't about dividing people up, it's about using the existing affiliations to easily get logically-associated bands of three together and having a shootaround.
Anyone interested in playing on my team, should contact me via forum PM or any other means that you can. I'll consult with Magna once my team is formed, at which point I'll post something letting everyone know whats up.
EDIT: Also, if I could get a start date ASAP so I can take off of work, that'd be fantastic. I assume it won't be this Saturday... right? There are other factors that I have to take into consideration as well, like who's house I'm at, if I'm in town, those sort of things. So I may end up adding another member to my group in case of my not being able to show. Again, questions can contact me through Mail
Young Man approached the black monolith that emitted a faint glow and humming noise, and it became clear to him that he should fire not where the alien ship is, but where it is going to be. -Magna Centipede
Let's make it Saturday 24th, since that should get the Heavy pack released and whored through so it won't be an issue. Also, that will ensure everyone has time to get a solid roster.
I am part of the unassociated-TG pool, so it sounds like you need to find a defenseman.
I was talking with Chewz about the state of the union...
We have a union? I demand that the break room be equipped with a vending machine stocked with Moon Pies! And the Pyro has to properly label his fuel canisters in accordance with OSHA regulations!
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
