It would be nice if the spy's backstab registered at the at the click and not at the end of the animation, although checking both would really be ideal

At the click wouldn't be fair; all the melee weapons have a delay between +attack and the damage event, but Spy is the only one who must guess which delay will apply.
I'm a fan of those three Sammy servers. Granted a few of the mods can be dweebs and the quality of play depends on how many map exploiters are in the server, but the experience point system adds a lot of variety that ZPS needed. Having some players be stronger or faster than others creates depth that wasn't there when it was simply four hits to kill, three if you're Whitey, and sometimes you get lucky and give Hep Z to someone.

Then at least detect whether it's a backstab on both begining and end of the animation. But not counting the hit until the animation has finished. As it stands now, as I understand it, it detects the backstab at the beginning of the animation but lands the hit at the end of the animation. Which causes a lot of problems backstabbing air but just normally stabbing.

I will probably had my fill of zombies by then. Also, I'm not distracted by their jest, they could've fixed spy during this time they were dicking around with the new hotness. If they don't pay attention to TF2 now, they won't pay more when the new cash cow aches for milking.
Also, the Goldeneye Source guys are currently working on stuff that is catching my attention, and the startling part is, and not in the omg ur doin it wrong way.

Yes! no more face stabs. I wonder if the reg problem will be fixed too, not that its that important now that face stabs will be fixed . . .

Or, they used "Gentlemen" because rubbing it in is funny, and they ack'd facestabs six months ago, when they ruined the code for knife.
I'm sure they're working on Left Four Dead and squeezing the last pennies out of Orange Box.

L4D is being mostly done by Valve's new acquisition of Turtle Rock Studios (now called Valve South or something), who made CS. I'm sure they'll do all 9 classes.
