Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
From my perspective, if we can get a good number of TG regulars to join in, I'll be in too. I think half the problem is that its summer now. When winter rolls around more people will join in.

Zephyr recruited me. If you can tame the Six-hundred Forty-first Fish, you've got something good going for you.

So, any ideas for the recruitment video? <3
Also, why did Zephyr leave/stop playing here?Young Man approached the black monolith that emitted a faint glow and humming noise, and it became clear to him that he should fire not where the alien ship is, but where it is going to be. -Magna Centipede

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
Zephyr just is busy with stuff besides TF2. Back when we had Zephyr, BannHammer, and FatalCure, we had tons of recruitment and tons of fun games.

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
And this is part of the problem..if no one wants to seed then the server is doomed. All it takes is a few people to get together at the same time. If you all want to play on other servers, then Magna's question has been answered. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. To state that I only play when Magna is on is pitiful...and smacks of behavior that is non-TG like. I think Skud recently posted the TG primer and maybe some of you should give it a quick read.

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
Well, his deisre for those attributes isn't bad. FG1 has momentum and as stated, we used to have that. Arena is a problem beyond the scope of this topic. I've added some maps, but I have received no feedback. Duel is on the server if people ask to play it. Being a 'first' server is like calling the girl who took your V-card at the prom after getting into a relationship with a woman who knows how to cook and likes you for who you are.
That just leaves the People, which has nothing to do with server per-se, since anyone can play anywhere. (I've already discussed the fragmentation of community.)

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
When I get on the first thing I look for is TG. If its not available I have no way to seed it. Please give me a seed attribute so I can launch requests. If many of the regs get this power then they can send these requests more regularly.
I approached TG cause I played some Battlefield 2142 back in the day (I rocked with the Ganz as you may have guessed) and was swept up by finally finding squads that played together as a team. I first heard about them from some You Tube tutorials made by Bommando that showed the tactical attention to detail that was had there. I had been waiting for TF2 for years to play it and so I immediately looked for the TG server where Zephyr was quick to add me to his friends list and let me know that I was more than welcome to join in. This is whats missing.
Unfortunately my schedule is too irregular and my play hours will decrease greatly in the next while to contribute much but basically all thats needed is some initiative from people to add people to their friends list and ask them to join in.
However, would you join a server where the regs stack together in one team and lay down the smack on all the other guys? Ive really been trying to join with random lately cause I dont think having one team steamroll the other is very fruitfull. It basically give all on the stacked team a false sense of empowerment and the loosing team just get frustrated and rage quits.
My suggestion:
1) Start adding player who are cooperating to your friends list
2) let non admins add friends to the group TG on steam. As it stands if you want to invite a person to the group it tells you only an admin can do that
3) Invite all friends who seems to cooperate to above mentioned group so that when the seed notice goes out they join.
4) STOP TEAM STACKING. It will make for a more balanced game play and in the long run a strong comunity to play with. At Focused they always random join and if things are too stacked they scramble the teams. This means newcomers taking the place of rage quiters are not welcomed with a man handling.
5) Consider what value belonging to small segragated "clans" or "gaming communities" adds to your gaming lifes that could not be fulfilled here in TG. Maybe if all the little guys dropped their tags (I speak of ignorance as I dont know what personal importance each of these has to each of you). If Epsilon, AJ, etc, all consolidated here it would make for a geat community. Plus, it seems we all get along anyway so why beat around the bush.

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
The group is public, they should be able to join freely. Send them to the page, perhaps? (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TGTF2)
How do they force random team joining? If it's a server command, I will apply it. If it is a mod I will look into it, but the server has something wrong with it that is beyond my expertise, that causes SourceMod to fail
The |TG| issue is an interesting one. I'm not a fan of tags, but the |TG| tag I wear because it isn't a mark of membership, it is an announcement that the wearer plays the TG way. It's about adhering to the code of conduct and the rules that enforce that code.
Rox: You and Atra have Announcement power. If you do well, great. If not, I will try other players.

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
I would prefer that you don't take my words out of context to fulfill whatever you're trying to prove. As stated, it's not that I don't want to seed TG, but I just think that if once every week I got the server seeded, that it would become an obligatory thing that wouldn't solve the real issues. The people that I'll end up recruiting through a force-seeding such as PM'ing everyone on my friends list (which I've done multiple times to jump-start a server) will end up like other people that I've brought over to TG; drifters that occasionally will play, but will make no commitment, such as Riku. I'm great friends with Riku, but him helping me jump a server will only help for that night; he won't be recruiting for TG. Now if we had more people like Zephyr who don't actually have to be jumping the server, but just helping seed, I hypothesis we would end up with a lot more TG players (Maja would be an example of someone recruited via the Z-method). Also, it's not that I only play on TG if Magna's there, it's just the one unique thing that is going for TG.
What if we just had all of the pseudo-TG clans splice their tags? You know, like |TG@e| for epsilon players, or [AJ's-TG] for Average Joe's players. I know one of the reasons I dislike wearing tags is because I feel my individuality is being taken away from me. I can't foresee anyone being unhappy about meeting halfway. And yeah, I know that Epsilon and AJ's aren't really related to TG, but most of them formed here.

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
Tags are appendations, not substitutions. If putting on a tag makes you "feel" your "individuality" is being "taken away," just wait until you grow up. Your hairline will recede from the soul raping that is in store.
The IHS system is intended to both organize and to encourage SM contributions because that pays for the server(s).

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
It was seeded for a while tonight. I dragged a couple friends on and we got repeatedly killed by Rocks.

I was fun though and I love TF2 at TG!

Re: Is anyone actually playing anymore?
all it takes is enough people interested in the game that they play it a lot....seed often and early, use your mics (big one), and you should have no trouble keeping at least one server up and running. Hell, not all of the -F- guys play that much anymore but we consistently bring in newcomers and make them feel welcomed. Im sure you guys do to, it just takes a concerted effort to actually play the game to keep it full. Its almost a year old so im sure interest is dwindling a bit. This game has plenty of legs, just gotta help em along
