From the TF2 Blog:

Over the next few days we'll be removing all TF2 items that were earned using external idling applications. We're going to adopt a zero tolerance policy for external applications used to manipulate the persistent item system. Due to us not having a policy in place prior to today, this time we're only removing the items earned through cheating the system. Going forward, if we find users using external applications, we'll remove all of their items. If you're interested, only about 4.5% of the players in TF2's community will be affected by this cleansing process.

Meanwhile, everyone who took the moral high road will soon be finding a new hat in their inventory. We've also significantly increased the chance of finding any of the existing hats.

We realize there is a high level of demand for items, and we're still working on systems to allow you to find them in new ways (via Trading, and crafting duplicates into desired items). However, we need to draw the line at running external applications.

Yay! New hats and better chance of hats!

Oh yeah, and cheaters punished.

They should fix that lil bug tho...you know that halo, the one that says "HEY IM A CLOAKED SPY IN THE CORNER RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR SPAWN!" since it doesn't cloak with the spy

Hah, I only lost my boink which I had deleted.
Hate to say it, but that halo is nothing special since only 4,5% of players don't have it.
Even the razorback is less common.

I am on of those 4.5% who don't have it

Kind of sad I lost my unlocks (I don't play spy or sniper enough to complete the required number of achievements), but also kind of happy I didn't get banned or something

Kinda funny how the Halo thing is creating outrage amongst the community. People are being banned from servers for wearing the Halo, people being banned for not wearing the Halo. Most servers have actually changed the Halo model so it says "FAG" instead of the Halo.

There is a Steam group called Healers Against Halos who say they will not heal anyone who wears a halo. I love how it causes so much outrage, I think it's really funny but loads of people get angry over nothing.

I'm not in a bad mood it's only a game no need to go crazy and hate halo people or not heal them it's stupid and childish. I'm saying they should have at least tested it and made sure it worked correctly before releasing it. Whats the point in wearing it as a spy when it doesn't cloak? That kind of defeats the purpose. I saw a at least 3 halos floating around on turbine and one that stopped and crouched in a corner when I got close...I think most of them don't even realize they can be seen.

They will keep removing all the stuff removed through idling, pretty much removes the purpose of it.

IMO abusing the system wasn't fair and I'm glad valve ''punished'' people who did it. Though they didn't inform their opinion of the idling clearly enough in the first place, which causes some annoyance.
Hats only have 1 real benefit: Hats do not move into the disguise of a spy, which would make spotting of those that can't use cover and cloak properly easier.

I like how halos look in freeze cam, but for most of the classes they look stupid. Its stupid to fight over them, but after all you can just un-equip it, and I have hat for most of the classes anyway

That Healers Against Halos group is troll, the leader admitted it and said that the whole idea of the group is childish and people should get over it. I agree. The big fuzz about the halos is rather silly, people getting angry that they didn't get one because they were labelled as cheaters and others playing the reincarnation of Jesus for not idling and holding the halo on top of their heads as a freaking trophy.

I my self care for the hats, but don't care for the halo. Only thing I find annoying that most of the people wear it and it looks bloody awful. Especially on the soldier.
