Re: Impression?
This game is bursting with pure unrefined awesomness.
The classes are preaty diversified and balanced (except for the Spy). So far I enjoy playing as the Pyro, since I can jump into the fray, set two people on fire, die horribly, and yet still get two kills after I die. Team work is definitely a key aspect to the game. Playing capture the flag (or briefcase in this case), Snail went heavy while Icky and I both were medics behind him. Snail must of drilled through the entire opposing team (all shooting at him) to get the briefcase, and then rip through 6 more people getting back out. Good times.
Graphically I find this game stunning. I thought it was going to be overly cel-shaded, but it's very smooth/realistic then games that are cel-shaded. The overall style and presentation is superb.
Definitely the best game I have played this year. Only 7 more hours of work till I get to play it some more.

Re: Impression?
I will see you all tonight hopefully. I had a dream about TF2, which may or may not be a good sign. Either way, I am itching to get back into some action tonight! (then again I did download the crysis beta overnight!)

I love gaming, mmmmmmmm

Re: Impression?
It's pretty fun. The commentary talks about trying to make Hydro a super replayable map, but it seems to be built totally on the concept of choke points. There's a choke point between every control point and invariably the battle just ends up there. I haven't played it very long, though.

Re: Impression?
This does sound like a lot of fun. I'll probably check it out as soon as they offer it as a standalone package. Since I already own HL2, it's a frustrating waste to have to buy it again, and I won't fall for giving Steam the satisfaction of having me purchase the same game twice just to play an early beta.

Re: Impression?
AMosely, you can "gift" hl2 and ep1 to someone who doesn't have it.
I know I know, who hasn't played hl2 yet that would want to today?

Re: Impression?
Y'know, there are probably LOTS of people. They're just hard to find.
I've hated the package bundling philosophy of Steam from the moment I purchased HL2 (in a store) and realized that it was IMPOSSIBLE to change the bundle I had without paying the full price. But in the case of TF2, you can easily ignore all things other than TF2 in the bundle. It is worth as much as any other game out there. Think of HL2 as a bonus only intended for people who missed it in the past.Peace through fear... since 1947!

Re: Impression?
45 bucks for 5 games, 4 of which I haven't played. It's a steal to me. I'll be downloading TF2 beta tonight hopefully.

Re: Impression?
Don't forget that once you play Peggle, some force deep within will cause you to shell out another $10 for Peggle Deluxe. You might as well just put that $10 on the total cost.
