Re: Impression?
I will concede that the pyro class is by far the hardest class to get top points with, and given that, it probably does need some love. And by hard I mean you basically have to be gun running and never dying. But as you say, if they are getting improved, so be it. I myself would love to see all the classes have great uses, counters, and overall a strategic benefit for the team. Snipers and Pyros, are the rarest played.
About demo grenade damage. I am fairly sure it deals the same damage as a rocket and sticky. Not that it really matters all that much, both pretty much deal serious damage, to fatal blows on direct hits. The difference between a soldier and a demoman is obviously in the way his weapon is used, their hp, speed, and their secondary weapons. From what I have seen, if your rocket or grenade doesn't kill on a direct hit on the first hit, then they are at full health, and not a scout/engineer/spy class. If they survive this hit, either it was indirect, or they have been recently buffed by a medic. I have never seen a grenade chunk any soldier on a direct hit, unless they were not at 100% health. As for damage value, I estimate a grenade and rocket both deal 150 damage. I find that both take the same number of hits on a turret.

Re: Impression?
Aye, but when Snipers are played, they're beastly interdict machines. A good Sniper in a key position won't let any of the enemy's key assets through and will break a push as well as a übered Heavy combo. It's a good thing they're very terrain-dependent and are truly a support class - not always good to take, but providing crucial support where they can work.
From an hour of just testing every fathomable factor (hit location, bounces, angle of shot, number of grenades left in the clip/in total, distance to target, number of enemies/friendlies around), it didn't seem like they did a consistant amount of damage. Sometimes they'd one-shot a Soldier on a normal grenade, sometimes they wouldn't; sometimes a crit grenade wouldn't even do it. It's a bit confusing.

Re: Impression?
I have been instantly killed by non critical grenades and rockets at full health A LOT. So yes, it is possible.
And Pyro is the greatest class, since yesterday all my stats have been erased except for Pyro, which is great cause it was my highest scoring class

You just can't use him effectively on every map.
Pyro defense FTW:

Re: Impression?
I know I'm a little late with this... but without being a player of the original, I just have to say this game is loads of fun!

Re: Impression?
The only class I haven't been able to eclipse a dozen+ points in a life without dying are is the demoman and scout. I don't think it would be too hard with the demoman, I'm just not fond of the class and avoid it. The scout I could imagine it being extremely difficult.
I spend most of my time on pyro, sniper, spy and soldier.

Edit: I just played on a typical pub for the first time... I was able to more than double my totals as a spy on a full 12 v 12 round. 29 points in a single life. And I think I'm a mediocre spy on TG servers, yikes. I'd be afraid to see what some of the better spies on the server could do. I couldn't even get close to the 3 engineer pubs who built their sentries and dispensors all next to each other and would shotgun anything that approached them.Last edited by Admerylous; 10-03-2007 at 03:35 AM.

I wonder if Pablo will come in and start boasting about his Spy stats...
