Re: TF2 Server Online
I can't connect to the full server. Are reserve slots working, and it is just full of 24 SMs?

Re: TF2 Server Online
It's just the Beta, and the server app was released last night. I doubt we have any scripts running yet. Panzer (or whomever) hasn't had time to work their magic yet, I would guess.

Re: TF2 Server Online
Server is running well.
I would recommend turning FF off until we get a dedicated admin presence and people have more time to become accustomed to the game. I've noticed a few bad eggs. Thankfully, they are rare, but I would wager that it's only because the game is too new to really have a dedicated "griefer" group.
Other than that, there's probably a few tweaks here and there in the round length, but it's nothing that's stopping the fun.
BAT should work for reserved slots. You could probably just pull the old Dystopia configs. I wouldn't think TF2 is so different as to break BAT.

Re: TF2 Server Online
It's not TF2 so much as it is the new Orangebox engine. Binaries/plugins/etc are not cross-compatible between Source and Orangebox. They need to get re-compiled against the new Orangebox libraries before they will work, and apparently Valve has not yet released the Orangebox SDK.
Looks like all the active admin tool sites are planning support for Orangebox once the SDK is released.

Re: TF2 Server Online
Had a bunch of the 3rd on for the better part of the evening. FF off would be a nice inclusion, but after awhile, you can at least get by, but seemed like we all agreed that FF off would be a lot better.

The game doesn't work well with FF on. Spies become way too powerful when you can't risk shooting your own guys.

Re: TF2 Server Online
Funny. We had around 12 TG'ers ON the server and there really wasn't much of an issue with the FF being on. Not a whole lot of team killing going on at all and few problem people I have noticed were dealt with. I assume you didn't participate in the consensus considering you didn't even connect to or play on the server to see what it was actually like.

I think maybe what you meant to say was "The 7th didn't want to play on it because FF was on".
In any case, if you read my first post you'll see that the server is still getting configured, I'm working out kinks and it's not really official. I just asked people to hop on and try it out. Oddly enough, I've gotten some positive feedback and some good suggestions for tweaks from people that actually participated. One of those tweaks WILL be turning FF off. In fact, FF was off for several of the rounds that occurred this evening while I was playing and watching the effect of it being on AND off.

Re: TF2 Server Online
BURN!!! heh.
Thanks for setting up a server. I'm looking forward to the hope of possibly having some free time to think about playing.

Re: TF2 Server Online
It went on and off during several rounds. I think it would certainly work well with FF on with smaller games but I don't think it has the same effect when 24 people are on the server. Just too much going on too quickly.
We've got about 10 TG'ers on the server right now and it just kicked into an FF-off map.

Re: TF2 Server Online
The bulk of the people I saw on TS were 7th, that's why I assumed it was the 7th that didn't want to play.
FF is currently off for all maps. I'm not sure if the server will remain online tonight, but if it's not it will return tomorrow evening when I am able to continue playtesting and watching for troublemakers.

Re: TF2 Server Online
I can assure you that this wasn't the case at all. A whole mixed group of us moved to the TG server when we found out it existed. I teamkilled the first person I saw, because I didn't know FF was on. Then after playing a round on it or two (?), everyone decided to move elsewhere until we could request this change. I believe I was the only person from the 7th playing at the time.
Regardless, the change has been made, and thanks for that Apophis. I am really looking forward to loading one server full of TG'ers and giving it a serious run.Peace through fear... since 1947!

The 3rd was hiding in our Comp. TS channel.
