Re: What classes are you playing?

I spent the most time playing Engineer even though I did run through all the classes. The teleporters do work well to drive players up to the front, especially on the CTF maps. Apart from that, I spent a lot of time as a spy essentially undoing the oppositions engineer work.

For those who do medic, the best way to get the point across that you are releasing an Ubercharge is to circle the person receiving the charge so that they see the funky colored medic.

Demoman here, love the indirect fire capability and being sneaky with the sticky-bombs.

I love Scout just about all the time, but I was getting some support time with the medic, he's more vital in this game, than any other game I've played, simply because he has no ability to revive, so you've gotta keep them alive, it takes skill since you can only heal one person at a time. You gotta switch fast to keep people up and running.

It's funny, because scout's class is truly designed to bunnyhop, so I hope no one takes offence to that class, he was just built to dodge bullets. Biggest threats for the Scout, are Heavy's, Pyros' and other scouts. Other than that, he can take on the rest of the classes pretty decently.

Last night when I was a Pyro, you beat me to death 3 times with the bat. Although you died shortly after due to being on fire.

lol, yeah, the scout's jump is ridiculous. Someone jumped towards me like about 20 feet to the right it looked like, such an absurd double jump! Can't wait to play more of that.

    Heavy.

    1) He takes a large amount of damage. Work in tandem with a medic and he can be unstoppable.
    2) Gatling gun really lays down the suppressing fire.
    3) Great cover for quicker teammates who can use the wider girth of the Heavy as a shield.

Re: What classes are you playing?

I play both Heavy and Sniper the most. Heavy is pretty self explanatory and plenty of people have said why in this thread.

The sniper on the other hand very few people seem to take up. Its better in some maps than in others, such as the train map. Sniper is best used against medics, because once a medic is taken down it means your team can really push on the heavy he was healing. Its also really great against engineers and their guns/dispensers. Im really impressed with how well the sniper (and really every kit) is balanced. For the sniper, you really are only gonna get a kill with the 100% thing full and with a headshot so you really cant constantly zoom everywhere and cover the length of the map. Against weaker health opponents though, shooting once or twice at the torso will down him.

Medic, soldier, and heavy depending who is playing what at the time. Never bothered touching the demoman or the engy; not really my style I suppose.

The pyro def needs a power-up of some sort and the spy needs a nerf of some sort.

Re: What classes are you playing?

My 3 favorites are engineer, spy, and scout. I probably have the most playtime on my spy, it is just so much fun (and so essential).

Maybe the spy needs a little bit of tweaking (although it can be very frustrating when the other team shoots everything in sight) but I feel the class is fine, and is essential to winning a game. They can easily turn the tide of a game (like destroying all static defense, or ramming a 2 heavy/doc train, TRIPLE KILL!).

I have been playing with a friend of mine who loves playing scout and a good scout/spy has been very satisfying for me to play thus far hah.

I was always a fun of engies and still am. As for the scout, he's a bit of a rambo class at the moment, which is the kind of player I am. I suppose thats why scout and spy appeal to me, they can hold their own pretty well.

I don't agree on the pyro, but a little bit of random sparkle on the cloaked spy would do wonders for balance. The pyro is intended as a hit and run CQB class, and it does this very well. I only played a few rounds with it, and I was cookin' MC's like a pound of bacon.

Re: What classes are you playing?

We need more tips for play. I have only been able to play a couple hours here, cuz I have a baby with a cold.

I've switched between all classes except spy and sniper.

Engineer tips: Build a dispenser first. You need resources to make the other stuff, otherwise you have to run around looking for dropped weapons.

If there are 2 engineers, building 2 dispensers next to each other is a gamble that usually pays off. 2 dispenser beside each other almost instantly replenish anyone in contact with both.

There are good spots for dispensers on each map depending on what CP you are on. Remember to use the destroy tool to kill your old stuff and move it forward if it's covering an old locked CP.

Oh yeah. I tried building a turret on the top level of one of the forts in 2forts, but I guess the scanning for the turret does not reach across to the other fort. It didn't track anyone who was on the second level of the opposing fort, so it was pretty useless.

I don't know who it was, but someone was urging us to go all engineer in the event of Sudden Death. Then you just build an impregnable fortress of turrets and dispensers. You either win or Stalemate if they don't try to attack.

The only other thing I have is the Medic. Those syringes have some nasty drop to them. Watch out for that.

With FF off right now, the Spy has a disadvantage that makes the class tolerable. Everyone just shoots their own teammates now to weed out spys. With FF on, the spy is devastating.

I'd prefer if the flamethrowers range was increased about 1-5 meters. In most cases when you get the drop on someone you are always just out of range with the flamethrower which makes you dead.

Re: What classes are you playing?

In my first few hours last night, I played a little of every class... Medic, Demoman and Soldier more than others. I had a ton of fun blowing up Heavies and Scouts with those demo grenades. I'm looking forward to trying out the Heavy some more, as well as Engineer.

The class balance and overall Fun Factor (and so many other fine points and embellishments) surpassed my expectations, which were very high to begin with. It'll be interesting to see the full version of this game released on a TG server(s).

Honestly, having played the spy more then any other class (probably 3 hours or so), having something like that would probably make me not want to play it anymore. I already get killed enough as it is, by indirect fire, people randomly shooting (at times I even though people were using some kind of cheats, because they would always peg me while invis :/).

Basically if you miss your stab and get noticed you're pretty much toast. The spy shines at sneaking around and killing lonely targets, and I think it should stay that way. Its already hard enough to stab out of cloaking due to the 2 second or so uncloaking time. If you get stabbed by a spy that is disguised, that's your own fault :P (on non ff server anyway).
