Server 2 - Map Test Tonight
I've locked server #2 in order to test cp_lazytown. If you care to join in, enter the TG:TF2 Steam chat room and I'll give you the password.

I can't get that chat room to work for me. What's wrong with just posting it here in an attached text file so that only people registered for the forums have access to it?

You need to be logged into "friends" in Steam to use the chat room. Sometimes I'll get logged out of friends and it wont let me reconnect until I restart Steam.

Re: Server 2 - Map Test Tonight
I'm guessing there was an update that disrupted everything last night. The TG server went from 24 players to 4 in 10 minutes. around 10pm EST.

I don't understand why the server was locked for this in the first place. What was the reasoning behind that?

There was. You can also now tell how many people there are playing each class when you bring up the menu to select your class.

You may want to check out this ctf map too. Looks like it could be fun for smaller teams.

Re: Server 2 - Map Test Tonight
Because we were trying to conduct the testing in a controlled environment. Having random players joining would have disrupted what we were trying to accomplish.
For example, in the chaos of a full server, we may not have discovered that demos and soldiers can boost over an invisible wall and enter the opponent's spawn room.
If anyone feels like they missed out, PM me (preferably on Steam) after 7PM Eastern tonight, and Ill switch the map on server 2 to cp_lazytown.

Re: Server 2 - Map Test Tonight
That might be a good idea in the future. Or I could just create a post in the members only forum and add a link in the thread. I had figured anyone with Steam would be able to join the room. Now I know that's not necessarily true.
The whole thing was kind of haphazard and I was trying to use it as a test to see how we would schedule and test maps in the future. I got a lot of info last night about working out the kinks and any information would be helpful.
Then again, I was also hamstrung by SVR 1 crashing for no reason that I could see. I wasn't even messing with it when it went down. Luckily I was already in VNC so I could see the application error in real time and reboot SRCDS.
PS: Those that were there, make sure to post your thoughts on the map. From what I read in the chat room, this map is not ready to be included on our server.

Also just to add. Zephr already proved that you can make posted items with passwords after the break that only those in the group can read.
Hopefully in the future TG will use the power of the community posted items to announce server info, downed servers, special events, and passworded nights. I know it takes extra time but in the long run I can see a big pay off.

Re: Server 2 - Map Test Tonight
Well, I was there for the playing, and it needs a lot of work.
I could cover points 1 and 2 from the spawn as a sniper. Granted, I might not be able to clear the room, by anyone who wanted to cap would end up dead. There was no danger shy of demos, jumping over the wall, maybe opponent snipers.
That and the cap points are messed up, no yellow lines/lines in bad places.
