Map Making?

Just wondering, how are people able to make maps for Team Fortress 2 yet? I was under the impression they weren't releasing their libraries for the SDK yet.

Any direction of info on the subject would be greatly appreciated

I believe you can get hammer working you just wont see the textures. They'll come up as checkered boxes.

Re: Map Making?

There a guide on how to modify the game files to allow Hammer to use them on the VALVe Developer Wiki. I followed it and can verify it works.

Started my power station map planning this morning.

Re: Map Making?

Ok, because I'm really anxious to start working on some maps. I guess I could wait 6 days and plan it out on paper during that time but I was just a little surprised at all the extra maps being made so early.

...and thus the planning begins...

The power plant idea sounds sweet. I can imagine a C&C GDI power plant.

Re: Map Making?

I've basically got the entire Blue side of the field set up in my head as the power plant fits their architectural style easily. However the Red Team are proving to be difficult they have a very rustic architecture and this is going to be hard to make look like a power station without losing their style.

Any ideas?

Re: Map Making?

Well Blue is more industrial and Red is more barn yard style. If Blue is getting their power from a power plant, what would Red get theirs from? A windmill plane? Maybe a huge Water Wheel on the side?

If you're doing those long narrow white smoke stacks for blue maybe short squat ones with black smoke for red

Pretty much. Don't get caught up in planning "realistically" Make it a nice, totally ridiculous rustic power plant

On a side note, wtb Cornfield!
