Stop running around like a headless chicken so can I heal you! Talk to me!
I'm breaking out of my Heavy character class selection and I've been playing more of the Medic role. One thing I've noticed playing the Medic is that a large percentage of players make healing extremely difficult and it's becoming my pet peeve. The only expection to this rule is the Heavy class who moves at such a slow speed it's not so much an issue (but lack of verbal communcation with the Medic can still have bad results). It's difficult to heal a player when they are running around the map without any type of verbal communcation with their medic.
If you are being healed by a Medic:
1)Don't randomly run around while being healed. Sometimes I get the feeling that people don't want to be healed and are trying to get rid of the Medic.
2)Tell the Medic who is healing you where you are going and what you want done. "We are going left." "Stay behind this corner." "Stay behind me." Etc.
3)Use VOIP and identify the person by name.
4)Form your own TS channel and work with a buddy if you are distracted by VOIP.
5)Stay with a particular player so if you both die you can re-spawn at the same time.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Agreed! I often have steam coming out of my ears after 1 minute of playing medic because people are so clueless about supporting their medics. It is infuriating when a crowd of people are running circles around you, demanding a medic. A little bit of patience and communication really goes a long way toward getting you the medic you need.
Further, don't forget that the game has evolved. Everyone now knows to target the medics, and so you have to be extra careful not to drag your medic into dangerous areas. Not every medic turns into a savage killing machine like Ultrablue when caught in hostile territory. Most of us just die.Peace through fear... since 1947!

Agreed, I play medic only when another TGer or mature player with VOIP *cough*TGer*cough*, asks for a medic and no one else will. I choose medic knowing I will team up with someone who needs me and is mature. I'll heal others that request a medic or at my discretion.
Hey they're being idiots? Ef em, and hit the mute button.

I play spy so I don't use much medic and certainly don't want one following me, and when I do I prefer to sup from the enemys' generocities, but the way I see it, if someone calls for a medic, then they should be playing by your rules. Otherwise, just boost them and let them run off, prancing aboot with their heads full of eyeballs.
"Form your own TS channel and work with a buddy if you are distracted by VOIP."
Form my own kiss my shiny red backside if you spam the mic. Announcing the plan to your medic is fine, but don't blot my ability to track footsteps because you need to explain how you're leading with your left foot and turning 57° clockwise.
How about drive to the Medic's house and form your own lan so you can synchronise all day?

Sounds like you need to learn how to write a prescription for smackdown. Or at least how to aim the syringe hopper.

Good post!
I played the medic a ton when I was first learning the game - it's a fantastic way to observe various classes in action and then heal them when things go wrong, which they inevitably will.
It's critical that all players realize how the medic class (and the healing gun) work. Players should really make an effort to respect the limitations and abilities of the medics.
TF2 makes it a little too easy to play recklessly sometimes. It's incredibly beneficial to watch your own health and pull yourself out of the action if you are running out of life. That's precisely where the medic steps in - right when you step out. With the obvious exception of uber, the medic wants to be in the back of the line or around the corner. If you make it hard on him, he's going to make it hard on you.

On the same note, if you want Uber don't make it cryptic. Occasionally people will say something like "Whenever you want... you know anytime about now...". This is completely useless and unless you are the only person speaking on VOIP at the time then it will often get missed. A good concise "Uber now" is all I ask.

If you substitute "don't want to be healed" with "don't want to stop to be healed", I think you'll get the mindset of the people you're talking about.
Generally, the person you start healing was in the middle of doing something before you showed up. Healing is always appreciated, but sometimes not enough for a player to stop doing what they were doing.
Not saying this applies to you necessarily, but some medics seem to have an attitude of "I'm doing you a favor and healing you! Stop what you're doing and appreciate me!". But sometimes it's better to throw your half-health body into the fray immediately, and respawn and hit it again.

Well the tough thing is it's impossible to target someone specifically if they're running in a crowd, and sometimes players ask for medics to follow them in the fray, even when they're hurt. All of things you cannot ask of a medic.
If you want to be healed: Get to a safe area, separate yourself from the group. Don't ask a medic to follow you into the fray without making sure they're willing to.

Pyros are awesome for ubers. Ubers allow them to get in close which is really their only down side. I'll heal anyone but pyros and heavys are my choice for ubers. Demomen spend their ammo too quickly to be able to rush. Soldiers are ok, but they usually spend those 4 rockets too quickly as well. Scouts would be awesome to use at point blank, I believe Valve said their scattergun does the most damage of all guns within the range of 2 feet or less. Unfortunately their speed means they'll break that uber range way to fast...
