Rtfm
I haven't played team fortress or team fortress 2 before. I have only played a little CS, and a lot of natural selection.
Where can I RTFM for team fortress 2 so that I am not a total nub.

Re: Rtfm
There are a bunch of guides around if you search on google. Here's one that is pretty good: http://www.mycheats.com/view/supergu..._fortress_2/pc
Something else that might give you some deeper understanding of the game is the commentary.
As for an actual manual for the game, this is the only one I know of, and its not particularly useful. http://www.steampowered.com/Manuals/...Manual_web.pdf
Overall its a pretty simple game to play if you are familiar with FPS.

Re: Rtfm
That did help. But is there a mini map, or anything like that... I am lost on a lot of these maps... And any resource on general strats?
and how do i change my name in that game?

Re: Rtfm
I did a write-up on the wiki one night when I was bored.

Your name will be your steam community name. You can temporarily change it with setinfo name <handle> in console.

Re: Rtfm
Awesome, I didn't know you were a wiki guy :P
A good way to learn the maps is to play Medic first. You follow other players around, see most parts of the map, and are able to help without having to have too much skill just yet.---------------

Re: Rtfm
No mini-maps. You'd be best served loading up a map locally, or when there's a few players on the server. We'd all be more than happy to walk you through any questions you have. I've found the best way to learn a new map is to play medic and just follow the group (healing them) while you get the details down.
As for strats, I have plans to do write-ups like I did for PCS years back, but I've been busy and really haven't taken the time to sit down and work my thoughts out.
What it comes down to is: ask questions. We're more than happy to help. And welcome to TG:TF2.

Re: Rtfm
The one thing that always helps me in new maps is to pay close attention to signs. The official maps are very detailed, so if you are paying attention, the signs makes it a lot easier to get right into the action.

Re: Rtfm
Thanks for all the links, and all the help. I guess I just need to learn the maps, and get some skills with these interesting classes. So far though it has be fun though, so given a little time I will have it figured out.
See ya online and thanks again.

Re: Rtfm
It is a really easy game to get into, I reccomend playing medic or soldier first as they are pretty easy - medic= support role, not much combat, soldier= rocket launcher & shotgun! Again, slightly easier than other roles.
Welcome to TF2, have fun!
