Map Discussion: pl_goldrush

Hmmm...oh yea! GOLDRUSH!

A whole new gameplay type and we haven't had anyone comment on it yet. I've heard that it sucks to be on BLU, I've heard it sucks to be on RED. All I know is that it's about 10 times as balanced as I expected.
Scout- Plenty of pickups if you know where to go, plus there are plenty of ways to use hit-n'-run tactics.
Soldier- Staple unit, but there are chokepoints, so he's necessary.
Pyro- Plenty of alt. routes for flanks.
Demo- Lots of bank shots and places for stickies.
Heavy- I don't even need to say that he's necessary.
Engi- Lots of nice SG spots.
Medic- I think we've all seen plenty of medics on this map.
Sniper- A surprising amount of sniper areas.
Spy- I've heard from my friend that it can be a spy's heaven.

Contributions to be made?

Busy RMA'ing his broken components from his new computer and cleaning up the old rig to sell it. He apparently forgot that a todder with access to Google can identity-theft his butt off with that old hard drive in an un-wiped state.

That makes me want to buy harddrives off of ebay.

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

Since every time I've played Goldrush so far it's been at least 50% medics I'm not sure how it plays for real.

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

I played for a wee bit early this am..I found the map to be quite enjoyable. Demoman's delight, IMO.

I haven't found a class that I've felt isn't great on the map if the player is good

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

I played about 4 rounds on Tuesday night after the patch. Engineers can be fun alot of places to setup. We were even able to hold the bomb feet from the blue team win with 7 medics, 1 heavy, 1 pyro and me as engy. This map does seem pretty balanced in my opinon. It will be a great teamwork map.

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

I've played it for the first time today, and quite a few times at that....I think one of which actually got past the first section. Once the cart gets out into the open at nearing point B it just seems way too easy to prevent it from moving further. But I still found it enjoyable and am glad for the new game type.

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

The A-2 section isn't too bad. All BLU needs to do is break a couple guns and kill a couple demoes. It's a lot like Dustbowl Act III Point 2, except it doesn't take 20 minutes every time.

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

Why don't I see a progress bar for Goldrush on TG?

It vanishes sometimes. Dunno why.

Re: Aren't we forgetting about something?

I usually see the progress bar for the first leg, then none for the others (if it makes it that far).
