Turbine_v3 OR how to empty out the server in 60 seconds . . .

Look, ill play any map. Even the so called bad ones. I think all the maps have some enjoyment to them. There are however some maps that are inherently better than others. I actually think Turbine is a great map, when its full. However, the last three days ive seen Turbine empy out the server. Yester day alone TWICE. We had a full server and then Turbine thinned it out to 5 or 6 people. After that it regained momentum and when Turbine came around again it emptied again, never to return to its former glory. Could you guys check the stats on turbine and see if this is true or if its just been a coincidence? I think a map that is constantly doing this should not be in the regular rotation.

Thanks

This has been mentioned in the New Map List thread (I think it's in TF2 Admin) and will be taken into consideration.

In short, we used to run Turbine frequently and we should run Turbine frequently because it is a great map. I consider it a standard for effective minimalism in map design. But until we establish a large base of aficionadoes, it will be reduced.

Everyone seemed to like voting for Turbine last month...

I can confirm this. I was playing in the TG server and it went from about 10 to about 4 people in the server, and even the 4 of us were getting really bored.

Turbine definitely needs to be removed from the cycle. I personally think that the server might benefit from having a map voting system.

The other thing which is kind of unrelated is on some CP maps I've noticed that sometimes the map changes without giving the other team a chance to attack/defend on something like lets say dustbowl, the attacking team gets like 6 points but when its time to trade sides it seems to cut off the game before everyone gets to stage 3. I don't know whats triggering this (if I explained it poorly just tell me).

Re: Turbine_v3 OR how to empty out the server in 60 seconds . . .

Lack of appropriate map configuration files. Valve set the standard for three defeats (BLU routs or RED defends to time) on the push maps; but because that's awful for competition, they changed it to a point per cap, but left the 3-points-to-win rule in place. A custom config file is required to appropriately set that to something sensible. I like 7 but I think Fenfen uses 9.

I don't know...

I love it. But lately NOBODY loves it.

So we'll just skip it more often than not for now.

I pulled it from the rotation, but feel free to put it on a mapvote.
