Re: The Medic - "Just rub some dirt on it and get back in there."

Actually you cant kill a turret if a engineer has a endless supply of metal and banging on it. The reason you could kill a turret with a engineer on it is if its not a level 3, or the engineer didnt start repairing it immediately. Repairs can fix a turret more than 50% outright per repair with the wrench, and a rocket doesn't deal more than 50% damage against the turret. Remember in the engineer thread, the idea is to either kill the engineer first, destroy the dispenser, or hit the sentry from a safe position. The engineer's job is to build a sentry in a right sided spot making it impossible to attack without being shot at, at an angle with first response, far enough to make stickies hard to drop, with a dispenser behind the sentry so it cant be hit, with the engineer behind the sentry so he cant be hit either unless the attacker puts himself in a position where hes vulnerable, or the engineer has room to move around while repairing. There are positions that cover all blind spots (except from spies) which is why the spies are there.

I think the reason why there are "angles" to kill turrets from is because usually there simply arent enough engineers (like 2) on a team to cover a choke completely, without sacrificing range or distance which makes the turret vulnerable from a certain direction, or in some other cases, turret rotation speed.

Um I'm almost positively sure an engineer can't heal his turret 50% with one hit. 3 successive direct hits is enough to take down a turret even level 3. Especially if one of those is a crit. Also it's important to know that rockets do splash damage to the engineer as well. He would die by that third rocket if he doesn't back off.

The problem is most soldiers go in rambo style and don't coordinate and are taken out before their third hit.

I pumped eight rockets into an L3 without breaking it because it was being smothered by an engineer with a wrench and a dispenser, so yeah, the hierarchy still holds. Kill the dispenser, kill the engineer, break his supid crap moron.

Wait, maybe I was playing scout at the time...I suppose that'd be a little bit different.

I am sure that critical rockets do not do more damage to a turret than a normal rocket.

Understand, I am not saying charging before fighting begins, I am saying intentionally and repeatedly hurting a player in order to charge faster is questionable.

I have to disagree with you, the developers mention pre-charging in the Dev Commentaries, to me it is a working as intended feature of the game. An early Uber may give your initial push some momentum but it will not break the game, and the other team has the same amount of time to pre-charge as well.

I believe the team that truly uses it is the attacking team, and the other team has all that time to set up their defenses. In the end I think it all balances out
