I don't see any mechanism to allow that.

I think the game won't allow that. I am just surprise they don't have some kind of a ballast system in place in a game like this.

Re: Season 2 idea's
An idea about the GTC cars.
In order to maintain a competitive field, especially given the (apparent) performance gap between the GT40 and other cars, I was thinking that we might want to come up with a point balancing system if one make proves clearly dominant. Basically, if a particular car, say the GT40, outperforms other cars, regardless of track, then it would receive a point penalty. Conversely, the underdogs, Austin Healey 3000 for instance, would receive a point bonus.
We'd need to look at results over a few races to see if a real trend emerges before deciding on such a system.
Just a thought to keep all the cars in a field, yet still balance them a bit. Might be too complicated to be worthwhile. Dunno.
Thoughts?

I kind of like that idea, but It will be difficult to determine what cars are the faster cars unless you have one person fully set those cars up and rate them accordingly, and it also depends on the tracks.
If our goal is to:
A) Create a more diverse field.
B) Balancing the field out as the race progress.
A simple alternative way of achieving that is to limit the podium finishers from using the same car again for the rest of the season. Let say I got third with a GT40 for the first race, the GT40 will be off limits for me for the rest of the season. As I won more podiums, the choice of the cars will progressively get more limited. I think this will:
A) Easier and less work to implement.
B) It guarantees a diverse field every race.
...I am just throwing ideas out there. Feel free to comment.

Re: Season 2 ideas
I like every part of your suggestion, Rocket... except the part about not using the GT40 again.
I know it's just your example, and I've cited it as an example as well. But I just gotta say that I loves me the GT.
Your suggestion is simple. I like that. But I hate the thought of having to give up a favorite car.
Perhaps matchups *are* necessary. Fast tracks, like Monza GP, just favor high horespower cars... any of em. The slow-pokes I mentioned before would be effectively obsolete. Their maneuverability would be their only advantage in the few technical sections, but the rest of the high speed track would leave them gasping. So maybe declare high-speed cars only for a fast track and restrict the slowest from participating.
This looks pretty moot given our current 4 track series. I think there's enough balance in the track layouts to keep the field relatively even. And besides, I doubt there's a driver here that would *deliberately* take one of the 'lame ducks' knowing it's an underperformer compared to so many other options. So, I'm probably overthinking this. It might not be a problem at all (just look at my talent for spinning a GT40... that alone is a big equalizer ).
This series will be effective at discovering what cars, if any, have dominating characteristics. Once we establish that, then *any* rule(s) could be written with informed opinion. It may very well come down to a solution like you suggest, Rocket. We'll have to see.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Season 2 ideas
Just looking at your suggestion again Rocket. I'm warmer to it than I was originally.
What if it were modified slightly? That 2 wins, or 3 podium finishes with the same car eliminated that car from future use by that driver. I suggest more than one only because a single win or podium finish could be a fluke due to any number of factors that might have nothing to do with that particular car. With a total of 12 podium spots spread out over 4 races, 2 or 3 for a single driver in the same car isn't a sure sign of unfair advantage. But I do think it invites an exclusion of that car for future events for that driver to maintain balance in the field.
Of course, I might just be going at this all waaaay too much. I hope I'm not steamrolling anybody with my longwided thoughts and counterpoints. I especially hope I'm not squashing ideas. I'm outspoken and voice my opinion, but I don't want that to be interpreted as dominating. I've never run anything like this before, so I'm stumbling my way through trying to make what I hope are fair decisions. I haven't heard any complaints, so it's not like I'm trying to put out any current fires. But I do want to be upfront about welcoming changes, additions, etc that would benifit the league and everyone's enjoyment here. If anybody has an idea they really want to see tried, please, put it up. I'm happy to give it a whirl if there's no complaints from others. And if it comes down to a vote, I'm cool with that too.

I think Vulcan said he can't handle some of the cars with his controller. If everyone with a wheel wants to try it then I am all for it.

Re: Season 2 ideas
Why don't we just wait and see how it turns out? It's only four races, and if a few cars seem to dominate then we can always figure out something for next season?

Re: Season 2 ideas
That works for me. I might have enough trouble keeping the GT40 pointed the right way to really be a threat anyway.

Yeah Mirf, your suggestion makes more sense. I am open to anything for this season.

Re: Season 2 ideas
Ok. Unless anyone else has thoughts/concerns let's just play it by ear. If one car/driver just starts smoking everyone repeatedly, we'll implement a restriction. Til then, the gloves are off.
Oh yeah, concessions to limited controller need to be considered. If Vulcan pwns us all, I'd say he's doing just fine with his setup.

Re: Season 2 ideas
That's funny because i won't be "pwning" anyone with this hunk of plastic they call a controller, i might make it around a few laps bumping and scraping though.
Hopefully get a better one soon.
