interesting post to show how to script it so that mic records only when you press a button, instead of all the time

I tested fraps recording all game sounds on my new PC and wow I found out that fraps has had a fantastic upgrade, this makes fraps the recorder of choice now
You can now record "what you hear" and your mic at the same time and there is no need to unmute your mic anymore !!! This is a superior method (see the pic)
This works from fraps version 3.4.1 April 2011 onwards
You still need to change sound settings and test footage sounds levels of voice volumes against game volumes etc

Excellent feature. I saw it as soon as I upgraded my PC a couple of weeks ago -- much requested, much wanted.
FRAPS dishes out awesome features like this regularly -- remember the "keep only the last 30s of video" thing a few months back?
Heck, I would mind paying double of whatever I paid for FRAPS. Quality product.Fight!
