Testing instant video streaming websites
So I decided to test the instant video streaming websites, by uploading the same 2 sec footage to all of them to see what the difference is
SOURCE MATERIAL
Recorded from playback of BF2142 demo file
All BF2142 graphics settings on high, *4 AA, screen res 1152 x 864
Recorded with fraps at full screen, fraps output res was 1152 x 864
Rendered with Sony Vegas, output res 1152 x 864, file size 6.1Mb, download the sony vegas output here

Free to open account and upload
No requirements for viewers to install toolbars or anything
Can upload normal gameplay footage
Video streams and plays immediatly (this excludes the HD sites, not that there are many options for that)
RATED FOR PICTURE QUALITY OF PLAYBACK

veoh.com (4 stars)
gamevee.com (4 stars)
imeem.com (4 stars)
viddler.com (3.5 stars)
youtube.com (higher res) (3.5 stars)
xfire.com (upload from xfire app) (3.5 stars)

Internet Archive (3 stars)
break.com (3 stars)
video.yahoo.com (3 stars)
youtube.com (normal res) (2.5 stars)

Thanks for the survey! I'll check out wegame later on my XP machine when I have a chance. It might use activeX to upload the vids: I can't upload from my Linux desktop.

You must have missed the part of the blip.tv agreement that says no game recordings.... almost missed it myself.

Youtube is loosing it's touch with all the pointless censorship that's going on. Not their fault, but still it's bad for business when your unique content is reduced. Wegame is still unaffected.

what video sites is moving forward and changing month by month
currently the best IMO are wegame (if uploaded in h.264) and youtube if uploaded in 1280*720 for the widescreen

I might try uploading a lightly compressed video to my freewebs page tonight to see how it looks using the embedded WMV player.
