Weewar Tournament Information/Signups
Tactical Gamer Weewar Tournament
ANNOUNCING: We're restarting the tournament, and it'll start very soon. Sign up on this thread.
Please note that the tournament format might look a little complicated to read. However, if you don't want to bother with this, simply sign up and you'll be told who your opponent(s) are for each round. All you really need to know are the "Game Rules" and who you play.
Game Rules:
Units Used: Non-Pro Units (Trooper, Heavy Trooper, Raider, Tank, Light Artillery, Heavy Artillery, Heavy Tank)
Time Limit: 12 hours. Two violations allowed. If your opponent goes over the 12 hour mark, please say in the in-game chat "1" or "2." If your opponent goes over the 12-hour mark three times, you may claim victory. If your opponent is idle for 24 hours or more, you may claim victory.
The time limit is 12 hours, but every effort should be made by both players to play as many turns as possible in order to advance the game. Stalling will be penalized when a winner has to be declared.
Guests Spectating: Must be ENABLED
Ranking: Must be OFF
Maps Used: Will be different from round to round
Game naming convention: "TG Tourney Game #" The number will be provided when you get your opponent.
Who should report the result? The winner of the game should post in the Tournament Result thread.
Home player has one day to start the game and invite the visiting player. The visiting player has one day to accept the invitation.
Tournament Format
Initial Seeding Round (Preseason)
Each player will be placed in a group of three. You will be responsible for playing TWO games (one against each other person) at the same time. These games will determine your seed in the double elimination bracket. This means you must keep two game spots open! Groups will be assigned at the end of each day while signups are still open.
Please note that you will be seeded according to your wins, so it is in your best interest to finish these games as quickly as possible.
Must finish games by: April 10th
Double Elimination Tournament
First round begins: April 11th
First round ends: April 25th or when all games are finished.
After playing the initial seeding round, players will be placed in a double elimination bracket. This will look much like the NCAA tournament brackets, but there will be a losers bracket included. The second and third place finishers will play, and the winner of this game will play the first place finisher in two games for the championship. A graphic will be provided to make this easier to understand.
How winners will be determined:
In order to make this tournament run smoothly, winners may be declared. Here's how it will work:
7 days after the round has started, I* will look at each game and determine if there is a clear winner based on unit type, bases owned, tactical positioning, whether one player is stalling, etc. This is a HIGH standard to meet.
10 days after the round has started, I* will take another look at the remaining games. The standard will be somewhat lower this time, but if it is still competitive, the game will continue.
14 days after the round has started, I* will take a look at the remaining games and a winner will be declared based on the above criteria. Keep in mind that stalling will count HEAVILY against a player in this situation. This is not necessarily fair, but we do not want this tournament to last several months.
*It's possible that I can form some sort of three-person committee to look at the games and vote for the winner. If you want on this committee, please PM me.
Turn Time Limit
Turns should be set to 12-hour turns, however players should make every attempt to play multiple turns per day.
A player who violates the 12-hour period three times can be removed from the game. For each time a player goes over the 12-hour period, please type "1" or "2" into the in-game chat room.
If a player goes over the 24-hour period, the player may be removed by his opponent.
Please make your moves quickly.

Must save a recording of the game until the next round begins

Re: Weewar Tournament Information/Signups
Is the 12 hour per turn timelimit negotiable? I can't play from work and my days run long sometimes. When I'm home I usually will play multiple turns.

Re: Weewar Tournament Information/Signups
well, it's really up to your opponent. If a player is active at one point in the day, let the time infractions go as it's not a big deal. But 24 hours would mean that it's possible in a week that we'd have only 7 rounds played in some games. Obviously I think it's more likely this won't happen, but I want to push these games forward as fast as I can. If you can play multiple rounds at night, do, and just let your opponent know that this is what you're doing. we're all friends here.

The 12 hour limit puts me out of this. I'm usually at work for around 14 hours a day...
