The 189th Infantry Brigade was activated at Tactical Gamer on February 15, 2010.

The 189th Infantry Brigade was chosen for this IHS due to its participation in WWII campaigns across Europe and its current real life training role supporting US troops. It is both a combat force of infantry and a training resource for the Army- pretty much the same here at Tactical Gamer.

We hope our experience in the real world can translate to effectiveness on the battlefield here at Tactical Gamer in maturity, teamplay, effectiveness and organization.

The real world 189th Infantry Brigade is part of the U.S. First Army and primarily responsible for training U.S. forces. During World War II, the brigade fought in the campaign across France and into Germany following the Normandy invasion in 1944. For its action in WWII, the brigade was awarded the following campaign streamers:

Northern France Campaign 1944

Rhineland Campaign 1944/45

Ardennes-Alsace Campaign 1944/45

Central Europe Campaign 1945

Today, the brigade trains soldiers preparing for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, USA.

At Tactical Gamer, the 189th Infantry Brigade performs both the function on training our fellow TG members and as a combat unit. The 189th specializes in the classic form of land warfare: Infantry. Although infantry combat is a focus of the brigade here at TG, we also are skilled in the employment of mechanized infantry and armor formations. Discipline, cohesion, dedication to mission and teamwork form the cornerstone of the 189th Infantry Brigade’s mettle.

Having strong ties to the Tactical Gamer University, the 189th also strives to teach, train and mentor new TG members in game titles supported by TG. This is a link between the real 189th Infantry Brigade and the virtual one we have here at TG.
